I have this wild rat comin into my room and it is attacking my male rats
wich are in a big ferret cage and i have males with toes bitten off and bit
up tails and the goddamn rat shredded one of my band tshirts and is peeing
all over the screen tops that my females are in and he is gettin into the
food and making a huge mess and tearing up my carpet. Im hating this thing
with a passion, specially since he hurt my males even Friskers, my fave :(.
i dont wanna get one of those nasty snap traps, because i dont like death
and cant handle waking up to its carcass and i dont wanna do the poison
because i worrry that what if one of my ratties gets loose and gets into it
and plus i dont want a dead rat rotting inside my walls or under the floor
or somethin. so does anyone know of online or a place that might sell those
humane traps where i can catch it and relocate it or make my dad dispose of
it. i figured id ask here first because i always check the newgroups when i
first get on the comp. ill go do an internet search and check back here for
responses.

How wonderful to read of someone who is against killing the wild ones....:)
We have had a similar problem in our Laundry. We had a Mouse Family move in.
These guys were actually eating the Rats Toilet stuff.. ( wheat by-products
in pellet form) they also were using it as their toilet as well...LOL. No
amount of praying to God for them to move it was going to work...so we
bought this brilliant humane trap. IT is like a tube that is bent up in the
middle.. The mouse walks to the end to get the irresistible Peanut Butter
and ends up tilting the whole thing so the door shuts behind. What we
originally thought was ONE cute mouse ended up being a family of 5..:)
Happily they have all be relocated to the great outdoors again. I don't
know if you can get a RAT version of this trap though. Good Luck.

I had a little mouse guest last year - couldn't stand the thought of killing
it so tried the home made milk bottle trap idea, which of course would be
too small for a rat, but the clever little thing managed to escape. So I
popped to my local pet shop to see if they sold humane traps and they did -
only small ones though. This shop is only tiny though so maybe a larger pet
shop would sell rat traps. By the way, the trap caught the mouse straight
away.
When you do manage to trap it, don't release it just up the road or
something, cos it will come back! Make sure you take it a good distance
away! Good luck!
