Cockatiel help wanted - CLICK HERE for the Pet Manual Forum Home Page

I have a 3 month old cinnamon/pearl cockatiel, hatched and raised by my
current pair, who up until a month ago was quite healthy, flying
(learning)and sitting. He then developed an inflamed/swollen vent
(possible heavy landing) and I thought he was going to snuff it, I
managed to nurse him along for a while and he seemed to be getting
better and was starting to get the use of his legs back. When I was
cleaning him the other week I noticed the feathers on his back right
side under his wings back down to his tail were white and quill like and
came away with minor tugging, this has now spread to the left side of
his back as well. He appears to be quite bright and flies around
however he still cannot use his legs correctly yet.

I have been reading up on PBFD etc, however he has never been in contact
with any other birds than his parents although this is a possible route
of infection.

TIA.

Sounds like it is time for a visit to a avian vet.

Sounds like a nutritional problem...

What are you feeding?
