For those of you not entirely sick of the great Teflon debate, 20/20 will be
airing tonight on ABC. The promo states overheated Teflon can kill birds
instantly and give you something called the "Teflon Flu". I believe it is on
at 10 EST.

The debate of whether you, dear Jack, were born an asshole or became one
through osmosis.
I suspect that living in denial is the culprit in your case. Oops! Wrong
debate! :P
In the case of the "great Teflon debate" I assume the instance of "debate"
inferred:
Contention in words or arguments; discussion for the
purpose of elucidating truth or influencing action;
with "influencing action" being what Debbie Krug meant.
Being anal-retentive does so narrow your view. Less quiche' and more
prunes, old boy! :P

I think the point is, what debate?
It is a fact that Teflon gives off fluorine gas, among other toxic
gasses, when it burns.
Neither you, or your birdies want to be around the results of Teflon
burning.
The same goes for other plastics, while Teflon gives off nastier gasses
than other plastics, it doesn't burn by itself (unlike PVC), and at
higher temperatures, which is why it gets used in wiring that needs to
meet fire codes.
