She said that the birds were far worse than initially thought. She said
their feathering was dull [well, give them a bath - but what they showed
looked fine to me] and that they were thin because of an all seed
iet -quote "They needed to be fed a uhm pelleted ah parrot diet, because
they ARE parrots." [how about a well balanced diet that includes fresh
fruits and veggies as well as other people foods] Some of the budgies were
missing toes and a couple were missing most of their upper beaks- more than
likely removed by the lovebirds. She said that they could still crack seed
because they had a tiny bit of beak left, but if they were any worse, they'd
have to be euthanised [If it were worse they'd have died a long time ago.
All wounds looked old and healed.] She said that they have to go into a
sanctuary situation because there is no way that they have the time to work
with them on a daily basis and that they need at least two hours a day
outside of their cages getting personal human interaction and "talked to as
you would a bright child. They have to be treated that way otherwise there
is no way you'll be able to handle parrots in general especially not these
guys. [bull****] They're way beyond being turned around at least by us" [how
a bout a few adopters? all the birds went to "sanctuaries" my guess -she
and her hoarding friends took the birds]

The narration (whoever wrote it) also sucked.
When the investigators were trying to capture the birds (in outdoor winter
gear), the narrator said that the home owner kept the heat on high to keep
the birds comfortable. But he didn't bother to state that it was a
completely unnecessary thing to do. He said that some of the birds have
suffered mentally as well as physically. They've not had the play and
stimulation they need to thrive (as they show a two birds in a cage with
some toys) [Hellooo. these birds had the freedom to go wherever they wanted
and do whatever they wanted to do]

That's what went down

They looked great to me....I know a lot of people who have smaller birds that
only get seeds and a few have lived over 20 years. Hopefully they will rerun
the program so I can see it again...
