A few days ago I came across this poem I wrote and posted Aug. 16th,'99 --
exactly four years ago today. I had completely forgotten about it.
As I read the original, I felt something was missing, so I've re-written
parts of it. It feels "complete" to me now.
I hope you like it....

-TODAY-
My hopeful heart sings
I spread my tattered wings
And lift my voice to greet the morning sun

A new day begins
I hope before it ends
I'll see this day become that 'special' one

Will today be the day
They take me out to play
They hardly seem to notice me at all

I wish they'd say 'hello'
And I try to tell them so
But it seems to upset them when I call

I try so hard to be good
And I wish they understood
How my lonely heart aches to see their smile

If I'm very quiet
(Today I'm going to try it!)
Perhaps they'll come and talk to me awhile

But they hung a shiny bell
Inside my tiny cell
And said it's all I need for company

Sometimes I pretend
My bell is my best friend
But it never acts as though it wants to be

Will you notice me today
Will you take me out to play
I need to know that somebody loves me

"Don't fret My little one
Before today is done
My love will set your tortured spirit free"

Yes, I like it. It's sad, but oh so true!

Regards
Jamie
That is so sad. I could never do that to amy of my Kids( Birds) I have 5 and
everyday they come out and we work together. I work and they sit on my
shoulders. I almost cried reading this because I think of all the unwanted
birds left in thier cages namely at the pet stores. If I could I would take
every one of them home. To tell you how much I love mine I am in the process
of buying a new home and the first thing I am looking for is the house got a
big enough room for the kids and a out door area that they can play in. To
view all of our kid check out
www.mystarz.com

I am gonna go up stairs and give each and everyone of them an extra hug to
let them know they will always be loved and never locked away

Very, VERY good Mama. Too bad it is true for many birds.
