Bird update, help report - CLICK HERE for the Pet Manual Forum Home Page
Wendy Darling
Hi,

Been a few months since I posted or, honestly, kept up with this list. I'm
in the last stages of prepping a novel and can barely get my head above
water.

Anyway, just wanted to say the l'il budgies Pell and Cal are still doing
well, healthy as all heck, apparently. Recently the starling flocks have
been in and getting the little dears very excited, flying back and forth
pretending they are part of the flocks they see out the window. In behavior
news, nothing is new, neither of them like me anywhere near them and Pell
still picks on Cal, especially around bedtime. The only new thing they seem
to do (though I still have not *caught* them) is bite the paint off a *new*
portion of the window frame. Grrrr. Don't know why they can't stick to
eating the branches I propped up... Maybe they've grown boring?

One other little note I'd like to make is that in the past day I offered
some help to a lady who wrote me from England about a rescued bird. She had
found some sort of bird (I am *guessing* a parrot or non-wild bird) outside,
rescued it after an encounter with her cat, has taken it in. She reported
it had a really over-grown beak and that although she had trimmed it "a tiny
bit" it still seemed like it was causinga problem. She didn't know what to
do. She wrote me because I guess she found my bird web site
(www.metrogirl.com/tigrons) and thought for some reason I would know, even
though I am not a vet or even somebody who has a "bird site" with proper
medical info. I told her by all means go to an avian vet or an experienced
bird person who knows how to assess and correct beak problems and other
healthy issues. To my suprise, she wrote back today saying she would be
looking for a vet right away. I don't know why she didn't think of that.

Cos she is a bit dim, or didn't want to pay. Where in the UK was she? I
could have perhaps helped if she isn't too far from me.

Is this a novel that you have written? If so, what is it about?
Glad your birds are doing well, and still enjoying their freedom.
