yippee sweetcorn is here - CLICK HERE for the Pet Manual Forum Home Page

I went to visit a friend yesterday to play with the piglets, baby donkey etc
and on the way home saw a sign on the road saying "sweetcorn for sale". I
bought a whole sack full for only 20p a cob. The first of the season yippee.
Usually not ripe for another 3 weeks but the weather has been so hot lately
it has ripened early. Needless to say, the birds have been pigging out all
day. I hang whole cobs in all the cages and aviaries and nibble on a raw
cob myself yummy.
At this rate the sack won't last long.
The plums are ripe at the moment and pears and apples not far behind. We are
having a fruit fest and only eating dry seed about twice a week, the rest
fresh fruit and sprouted stuff.
I am so glad I live in a rural area where stuff can be bought cheaply and
fresh from the field :0)

Sweet Corn is pretty much done here (Southern Minnesota) for the year. Our
trees have just started to turn to fall color. Oh, well, I guess Rocky
(caique), Simon (hahn's) and Emile ('tiel) will just have to rediscover
sweet corn all over again next summer! (Sigh!)
