My 'female' weaver finch, which I've had for two years, is molting. The
feathers that are coming in are not the tan and brown color of the female,
but rather the orange and black of the male. The known male I have is a
fire-fronted (or crimson-crowned) bishop weaver finch, but the 'female' is
more delicately built and might be a different species. I guess I'll find
out. Does anyone know how long it takes for these guys to reach sexual
maturity? If there is anyone, including lurkers, who might know the answer
please help me. I watched _Priscilla, Queen of the Desert_ and am now
thinking about renaming the 'female' Felicity.

Thanx

Gloria
