Many of you may know about Mark Bittner, the man who feeds and studies the
wild flock of cherry-headed conures in San Francisco. Well, I've finally
finished my documentary film about Mark and the flock. Entitled "The Wild
Parrots of Telegraph Hill," it's having its world premiere in Hollywood at
the ArcLight Cinemas on August 22. The run will end on August 28. The film
is feature-length (83 minutes) and provides an intimate look into the lives
(and loves) of a flock of wild parrots. Tickets are available at the
ArcLight beginning August 1. I hope those of you in the Los Angeles area
can make it.

I've read about this wild flock on the internet. Will the film be playing
anywhere else? Portland, Oregon perhaps?

Eventually it will be available on video. But my immediate goal is to find a
distributor who will release it theatrically across the country. It was shot
on film and really should be seen on the big screen. Currently there are
plans for screenings in four other cities: San Diego (Del Mar), Little Rock,
Austin, and Seattle. If you want more detailed information, go to

Daily at Telegraph Hill <G>

At some point, it is going to be a tourist attraction.

But yes, hopefully it will be picked up for distribution in some manner.
Tv, cable, DVD? Paypal per DL, that might work in the <$10 market.

Having a theatrical release in Hollywood is important for the award
folks.

Good luck Judy & crew.

Didn't the city council finally give the birds protective status? I
mean you can no longer go out with a net and grab yourself a pet, can you?

Grabber.

Judy Irving
That is correct. They cannot be taken as pets.

Mark Bittner
In fact, there is footage in the movie of Mark going to City Hall to ask for
protection for the birds, and the city promises to give it.
