Tip: When replying to someone, click on their message in the
message list window (like you do to select/read their message)
and then use the "Reply to Group" feature. This can be invoked
via either:
- Keyboard shortcut: Ctrl+G. Press Ctrl key, and while holding
it, press the G key.
- Menu bar: Click on the word "Message", and then on "Reply
to Group"
- Toolbar: Click on the button which looks like a thumbtacked
piece of paper, but with an arrow pointing at it. When you
hover the mouse pointer over this button, a "Reply to Group"
tooltip will pop up. If this button isn't visible on your toolbar,
you can right mouse click over/in the toolbar area and hit
customize, to add it.
Using the Reply to Group feature will make your messages
appear in the correct place (under the message you are replying
to), make the conversation easier to follow (particularly if you
quote the previous message properly), and save you from having
to change the subject :-)

You wrote:""Bo died of adrienal disease. They were not related, Not on
medication"
It would be easy to suppose that this meant that he was not aving treatment
before he died. I recommend that you show a little respect for people and
not jump down their throats for asking a question. Generally a newbie needs
to be a little circumspect instead of throwing insults about within days of
posting. I don't know you, I don't know if you are the kind of moron who
posts here insttead of seeking veterinary care because it is cheaper, or who
would let a pet die rather than have it operated on. It might surprise you
to learn that such people exist, and such people post here too occasionally,
and such people also start chucking insults about at people who have used
this newsgroup for some years too. This sort don't usually stay around long.
Only time will tell what sort of person you are, however, from your post I
have already gained an impression.

I guess I can be considered a "newbie" I don't post here often,but I am a
member of several other groups.Does everyone remember me,I had a huge brain
fart in June and considered giving my fuzz up because our new house just
seemed so overwhelming to ferret proof and I had zilch time.Well I got over
it,I don't think I really ever considered it for more than a second.I love
my guys.I have also adopted Sniffles from Rocky's Ferret Shelter since. When
I psoted on here about posslibly placing them, most of you were kind, helping
me wiht ideas to ferret proof.Wel I totally revamped one whole room for
them.I put up drywall,linoleum,carpet runners,plexiglass gates,tunnels,new
door latches and the whole nine yards, all together well over $800.00 to do
the room. The fuzz also got a new cage, much larger and comfy for teh days
tehy can't be out all day.I consider myself a good ferret mom.My animals are
all UTD and ADV tested, they recieve vet care when needed and yearly
checkups. But when I came on here, rather than ask questions or try to be
helpful,Old Molly went and jumped down my throat.Did I deserve it?NO.Did she
knwo me or anyhting about me that gave her that right?NO.But she did
anyway.I don't post here becuase of her.Everytime I come on here,she is
blasting someone for something.I'm sorry but I find it hard to believe you
are perfect, you are obviously lacking in the tact department.I dont expect
anyone to agree with me,I knwo you are all friends, but I think it is
absurd. How are ferret lovers supposed to learn when people make them feel
less tha human when we don't agree wiht something they say?I wont call you
nasty names or degrade you,I think you are an excellent ferret owner, but I
feel you lost sight to when you first became a ferret parent. No one comes
into this knwoign all the answers and they rely on us to help them along.I
hope someday you will realize this.

That was very well said, Seanna. I agree with you 100%. I know you from
another forum (Kim's) and I always enjoy reading your posts.
As for *oldmolly*...well, this is for you. I'm fairly new here also. But
I'm NOT new to ferret ownership. But I am still learning all the time. We
all do. And just because YOU have been on the ng longer than others, you
don't own it and you're not always right. You are crude. Your remarks to
others here have been downright rude & nasty. Must be your personality.
What you posted to *searched* was cruel and uncalled for. You were the one
disrespectful, not the other way around. When one of us loses a ferret,
it's only human & kind to offer condolences and not make judgements. You
judge people. You're lousy at it, too. And I've ALSO got an opinion of
YOU. I don't care for you at all. Maybe you should do a google search on
sensitivity & compassion and see if they have pills for that. You need
some. You're lacking it totally.
I'm not a confrontational person, but I WILL speak up when I feel the need
and make my thoughts & opinions known. And I plan to continue to post here
whenever I feel I can be of help to someone or need help in return. I just
won't consider anything you may have to say since anything you have to offer
is worthless.

Thank you.I didnt figure I was the only one who felt this way.You enjoy my
posts?Even though I can't type?LOL.On our other forum,we tell it like it
is,but we always look for the good before assuming the bad.MAybe you should
do so Molly.I hope it can be resolved as I am not here to fight with the
world, but to help out other ferret owners that may have similiar
experiences. But I can't sit back and let you degrade people because you nose

Maybe if you so called "newbies" took the time to know and understand Molly
like you do your ferrets, you may find she is one of the most knowledgable and
caring ferret owners amongst us.
No i`m not defending her because i have had my run ins with the old witch and
still do from time to time but i do admire her straight talking humour which a
lot don`t get.
You either post or you dont but please don`t come bitchin because you have had
your feathers flustered.
****, if you think she can be harsh, wait till you meet some of the others. (
ok Cap, sit still till i let you off the leash )
You are most welcome to join us but don`t be put off with a few harsh words,
either ignore it or retaliate but dont bitch about it.
i`m Steve by the way, from Yorkshire and hunt rabbits to feed to my ferrets.
Any help or advice on hunting with ferrets, then i`m your man.
regards
Steve

Molly--
You post short curt qusetions that sound like you think the poster you
replied to is some dimwitted idiot
I remember with me include "giving my ferrets alchohal". Another was about
my ferret care, when I replied you pretty much told me not to be so
"snotty".
Working on the "tone" of the post or adding those silly emoticons would help
You're "molly" and molly is as molly does, and probably isn't going to
change.

I actually believe I did say that I think she is a wonderful ferret owner
and very knowledgable.I knwo Cap also,I like Cap's straight forward
attitude. But there is a big difference between straight forward and being
plain nasty. My feathers aren't "ruffled",I knwo my ferrets are well kept and
loved,I don't need a pat on the back to tell me so.All I was saying was
everytime someone new comes here, she has to jump down their throat, and half
the time doesn't even ask the simple questions that could tactfully get to
the answer.I won't degrade or name call,I gave my opinion, take it for the 2
cents it's worth.I never and will never judge her on her ferret care, she
seems knowledgable and caring, but I will judge her tact and
personality, which she makes very clear on this forum.I'm a caring ferret
owner.I volunteer,I spend my time and money on shelters,my ferrets are given
vet care, does that give me the right to speak down to everyone else?I don't
believe so.
By the way,I'm Seanna.I live in Pennsylvania.I have 3 fuzzies
currently,Loki,Ares and Sniffles.I am currently adopting an adrenal baby
named Mojo from Rocky's making us a house hold of 4.I would really love to
visit your home,to see frrets in hunting action,as it's quite illegal here.I
don't hunt,I'm a crazy animal person, but stand behind anyone who chooses to
do so.I'm actually a very friendly,non-confrontational person,but sometimes
I get some nerve and open my mouth. So nice to meet you all!!

She actually did call me an idiot..........
That was when I said that I allowed my ferrets to bite the cats when they
were all in the living room. She totally overlooked the fact that letting my
animals taking care of their issues themselves (at least for the most part)
has caused a nice atmosphere between them all, and the ferrets are now a lot
easier on the cats. If I handn't done that I'd now have two groups of
animals that looked at each other suspiciously..........

Well said, both Seanna and Diane. I don't usually get involved in the
personal attacks, but at times I am downright embarassed to be part of a
group that at times would appear to a newcomer to be run by oldmolly's
criticisms, attacks and anger. I'm not a newcomer at either ferrets or this
newsgroup, but sometimes I think the whole idea of HELPING newcomers with a
little guidance for the wellbeing of their ferrets takes second place to
anyone's ego. Like all of us, sometimes she is right, sometimes she is
wrong and makes mistakes........that's life. Experience shows us that
people do usually accept help, information and guidance a little easier from
someone who is experienced, friendly, and most importantly genuinely
concerned. Get a grip, Pam. Take a pill. Do whatever you need to do, but
ease up. Take a deep breath. Life's too short for so much anger and
self-righteousness. If you can't do it for yourself, do it in the best
interest of ferrets.

I don't think i will have trouble fitting in here : ) And I don't want to
seem like I'm bashing anyone, but maybe she can explain why she is this
way?As discouraging as every day is when you own ferrets, always someone
buying one without thinking or planning ahead, dozens or sometimes hundreds
of ferrets dumped in shelters everyday as we have all seen so much of
lately, the answer is not to make an outcast out of anyone who may have
fallen off of the golden path.We need to try and nudge their compass the
right way,and then,as I have found out,if they still have no desire to
learn, well then Molly you come into play and do it well. But evreyoen
deserves a chance,do not tear apart their first five words, and search for a
reason that they should not be blessed by these wondeful animals.Mysa ving
grace was a shelter named Scales and Tails, she took me under her wing when
everyone else discouraged me,and I think I have made her proud.I don't think
there can be a better feeling than a fuzz who a great home, and you knwo you
HELPED,but you can't help when YOU aren't interested in trying.Again,I'm
just stating my 2 cents.I think I will like it here, and I think you are all
stuck with me.LOL,Molly I am sure in time we will have friendly talks and I
am sure we will butt heads again. So everyone tell me about you ferrets and
where you are from?

I'm not afraid or have any problem with "harsh" or upfront or
straightforward. Big difference between cruel. I've been upfront &
straightforward many times. I do so with understanding & compassion. Big
difference again.
I know Cap from other boards. He's knowledgeable and comes to the point.
He also offers excellent advice without judgement when needed. I read his
replies on this ng. What's your point?
Us *Yanks* from the US tend to our ferrets differently than in UK from what
I've gathered on other forums. It doesn't mean that either way is right or
wrong for the other. I've always respected that. In the US we also deal
with ferret health issues more frequently because of money-making breeding
over here that sell to pet stores at too-young ages. So we need to make
certain that we get proper & timely medical care as needed. Many of us
consider ourselves very fortunate if our ferrets live past the age of 8 or 9
yrs. old.
I volunteer at a shelter (where most of those too-young kits eventually end
up). I've owned ferrets since 1993 and didn't know beans back then. There
was no internet & not many ferret-knowledgeable vets in the US. I consider
myself a caring, responsible ferret owner that loves my ferrets. They are
an important part of our family. They never want for anything. And I'm
always wanting to gather more information from other ferret owners who have
answers that I need. And I'm always willing to share my experiences when
someone is in need.
I don't think I've done badly at all through the years. At the moment, I
have six ferrets. Most are old-timers. I've had ferrets live past the age
of 10 yrs. I have three ferrets right now that are close to 8 yrs. &
dealing with their health issues...adrenal, insulinoma. We take it day by
day.
Although there are differences in our cultures as to how we tend to our
ferrets, which I do respect, I still believe that sensitivity & words of
comfort & encouragement (rather than rudeness) is universal. Molly needs
lessons in that.

As you replied to my post I'll start.
I live in Holland with 6 ferrets: Emmy, a female siamese chocolate, Rose, a
female chocolate, Gizmo, a sable male, and Jingo, Mouffy and Carmel, all
albino males. 2 weeks ago Mouffy's twin, Bashu, died, and a week later
Carmel came to me as an emergency rescue.
My 5 cats are Mickey, Misty, Tiger, Babette, and Yoschi.

It's good to know that I'm not the only one to feel Molly tends to run rough
shod over others. Granted she has a good handle on ferrets and their care,
but her people skills are lacking. I've learned to just read her posts and
her do as I say not as I do advice, and remember who is writing them. And,
I to have been a target, because I don't find gleefull killing of animals
something to get excited about.

I don't know about the OP, but I'm one of the ones who is tired
of seeing her attack someone over little or nothing while she
allows her unruly puppies to kill a number of other animals in
her care. For me it isn't about what she knows and shares, or
about the tone of some of her postings, it's the utter hypocrisy
that too often goes with the nasty tone. She has "unpreventable
accidents" and everyone else is irresponsible and careless.

Is that all? What's that sign hanging up there saying "Widows
Consoled at Affordable Rates?"

I'll second that, Cap. Molly & I have had a couple messy run-ins in the
past, but she & I have always made up afterwards, cos the bottom line is
that she knows what's what about ferrets. Besides, I'd rather be
bitch-slapped by a *friend* than an enemy!
Her wickedly twisted sense of humor doesn't hurt, either. She cracks me up,
& if she's really leaving, I'll miss the hell outta her.
Molly - if you're reading this, email me, ok? My email addy is legit.

No, not as yet... would have to do some heavy work with the scythe if I
tried now, will get out in November for the first time I would think. Also
run a real risk of running into young bunnies at the moment. AND I need to
get the ferret receiver serviced!
Still am somewhat looking forward to it!
Did you get anything the other weekend?

I'll throw out a thanks for the English to American translation. I was
envisioning violence :D
I have a friend in Oxfordshire I talk to rather often and he's constantly
having to translate (and being very southern US I'm constantly doing the
same) but this is one I'd not heard.

Glad this is in print, so that I don't have to ask you to slow down or
spell... Those might come in handy sometime.
