If you cannot find a buyer, the Ferret Rescue Society of Ottawa and Area
will take her in. Since they are a not for profit organization, they
cannot pay you for the ferret. Also donations of cages and supplies
would be gladly accepted.

Maybe when people give their ferrets over to someone for temporary care, they
need to have a signed document stating who they belong to and that the
arrangement is only temporary. I'm sure the ferret misses *whoever* is (was?)
their real owner, if they still remember who that was after being shuffled
around so.

Just a thought

You betcha, Cap. If someone had my ferret, they'd better be prepared for
all hell to kick loose!!
I think something sounds a bit askew in this whole fish story myself. I
sure wouldn't be sitting at my damn computer writing about it, that's for

I don't see how arguing with this person in a Usenet newsgroup is
going to help you get your ferret back. If you *really* want it back,
I suggest you either a) try to work something out (such as bite the
bullet and buy back the ferret and chalk this all up to experience)
or b) sit down with an attorney and discuss your options. On that
note, allow me to point out that the more you rant in public, the
more likely you are to say something that could be used against
you.

So, you'd prefer to continue to rant, rave, and call names here rather than
try to actually do some leg-work yourself to find you so-called 'stolen'
ferret? If you really cared, you'd find the money, or make the effort, call
every number you suspect to be hers (which she's listed on this NG if I'm
not mistaken), post up flyers, put personal ads in the papers, do *anything*
to get your pet back. However, instead, you've chosen to sign on to a
newsgroup, call the legitimate owner names, and basically whine that life is
so unfair that you had a bad spot in life and made a bad decision (in your
mind anyway). Personally, I don't think it was a bad decision. You took a
ferret out of a home it could not be cared for properly and placed it in one
where it could. That totally ENDED your relationship with that animal. If it
was to be temporary, it should have been either in writing or the person
should have come to your house. The fact that the person chose to shuffle
this poor creature to another home where it, in turn, will be shuffled out
again, is no longer of your concern.

Either put up or shut up. Take steps to find the person with the animal (if
she's selling it, she's not exactly in hiding, now is she?), do whatever it
takes to get the ferret back, or shut up and color.

Yes, papering the neighborhood with flyers is cheap and easy. It also could be
quite telling; if *someone* was found removing them, that, too, might be a lead
(unless it's a city worker and posting flyers is against the law). One would
half way expect a guilty party to want to remove them as quickly as possible.

You supercillious twit! If you had half a gram of maturity and
only half that in common sense you would have posed as an
interested buyer when the ferret was offered for sale instead of
screaming your intent and alerting this person who has your
ferret. You are acting like a hysterical child. Take your meds
and get a grip.

Gee, whiz......in one of my posts to you, I reminded you that you should
have gotten all this in writing - ya know, like a "contract"? You told me
that it was all verbal, & I told you that a verbal contract wasn't worth the
paper it was written on?

And now comes the news that you're a LAW student??? My mother in law was a
rather brilliant law prof - business & contract law, BTW. If she were here
now, I'm sure her professional advice would be the following - "I understand
McDogfood's is hiring....."

Which leads one to the logical question:

So, you came in here pitching fits & food *why*, exactly?

Sheeeesh.....

Please go away, and learn how to use the Caps key, while you're at it.

There is no such thing as a spoiled Ferret,
just varying degrees of neglect.

Its a long known and obvious fact to anyone from Western Canada, that
Ottawa is inhabited mostly by those who are a few bricks short of a
load. Much worse than Lotus Land - aka BC.

All you need is this header information pasted below. Trish Durant
(if the name's real), although posting from a hotmail account, has
cable modem service through Rogers.com, and had IP 24.103.67.125 on
10/1/03 at 21:23:54 when the message was posted. A lawyer should be
able to get the users real name and address from Rogers.com
