I finally cut up an extra piece of carpet and laid it where wilson had a
problem missing the pan now he is backing into the fan so far, it only has
been half a day. It appears he smells the carpet a little further out than
usually and goes instead of backing all the way. I bought one of those hand
steamers that vaccums up the steam, well that only lasted but a few days. I
was wondering if anyone knows of a cleaner that wont ruin the rug or wilson
that i can apply weekly and can even use the machine to suck it back or what
not. the smell isnt really isnt that bad i just want to get it before it
comes a problem. I happen to notice it a bit more seeing that it is along
side my bed. He likes to leave dad presents.

Use Nature's Miracle, best thing out there. Soak the spot and cover it with
a plastic bag for 2 or 3 days. Put a weight on the plastic bag to keep the
area wet and let the enzymes do their job..Sourc, Talking Dirty with the

There is also something used in hospitals called "Fecal Odor Eliminator" ("FOE")
that is very good for things like that. They also have one for urine odor. I
don't know where to get them, but if you can fond them, they work very well.

my friend had also mentioned nature's miracle. he has 3 sneaks, a dog, and a
ferret. he said it works wonders. i have to see if it is in any of the local
shops around here. Other than that, i do clean as much as i can if i seen
he has missed the target. He is out of the cage 18 hours out of 24. and
always uses his litter pan when in the cage for the short time. thanks for
the suggestions.

In desperation, shortly before I actually had the carpet removed, I pulled
up the edge of the carpet and cut the padding away beneath and removed it
for the area that was affected. Then I mixed a solution of bleach water
and poured it on the affected carpet and suctioned it up with the hand
carpet cleaner vac. THen immediately poured clean water on the area a
couple of times and sucked it up...as if to rinse. Thank God my carpet
color was not affected by the bleach, but it sure got the smell out of
there. Ultimately my solution was to get rid of the carpet.

Ick. what a lovely name :)
Don't know anything about that stuff but I also suggest Nature's
Miracle. You can get it at any pet store. White plastic container, red
cap and red writing on it usually. There are different sizes. Get the
large gallon and save some money in the end. It's expensive though, so
you might want to look around a bit and compare prices. (or not.)

I use Simple Solution. I've found it works well, and is a bit cheaper
than Nature's Miracle. We also use it where I work when customer's
dogs have accidents, even though we carry both brands.
We used it at home when our dog threw up after a bout of coprophagy.
That had to be the worst smelling thing I've ever encountered.
Anyway, both are enzymatic cleaners and either should work.

I'm throwing in another "Nature's Miracle" reply.
I've never heard of the plastic bag technique mentioned in a previous
post, but it sure seems logical. I usually just spray it fairly heavily
on the spot.
