I finally signed up with my ISP's spam and virus detectors. I added OE's
less than perfect block sender and rules.
I'm finally back down to getting my regular email. Everything else is
getting dumped to deleted items. Right now, I'm still dumping everything
after each internet session.
I still need to see why my AVG virus scanner isn't updating itself. It
claims I have no viruses.

Try Mailwasher. www.mailwasher.net
There is a free version. It doesn't stop the spam but blocks the viruses
from getting to your computer.

your virus software might not be updating itself due to a virus. so goto
http://security.symantec.com/sscv6/...SLHFEPGEVVSDUXL
or www.symantec.com and try there online virus checker.
it might help !?!?

I just went and downloaded the latest upgrade. According to the new
software, I have no viruses.
