mixter
nhu,
did the doctor tell you to give baby any pedialyte? try making a mush with
the critcal care pellets. i'm assuming the critical care is pellets. take
about a tablespoon of pellets and mix them in half a cup of UNFLAVORED
pedialyte. you can buy it at the drugstore but once you open it, you must
REFRIGERATE it. you may be able to buy it at the grocery store as well in
the baby food aisle.

when the pellets have soaked up all the pedialyte, put it into a blender or
food processor and mix it well. add more pedialyte to make it as smooth as
possible. you can now add a little bit of baby food to give it some flavor.
or you can add some canned pumpkin. the type you use for pie that has no
sugar added. libby's is a popular brand so look for that.

you can also add a little bit of flavored yogurt if you want. not a lot
because there is sugar added in yogurt.

when you syringe feed baby, you must be sure to put the syringe in the side
of baby's mouth. you don't want to go too fast. baby will need time to
swallow.

it's a bit stressful for you and more so for baby but it may be the only way
to get him to eat.

good luck nhu,
mickey

syringe feed it to baby a few times a day. you'll need someone to help you.

Nhu, I am so sorry. Many of us know where you are right now. All you can
do is take it one day at a time, and one feeding at a time.

Hang in there, friend. With stasis, we never know what the outcome will be
until we get through it. All we can do is give the medications, fluids, and
foods, and pray for our little friends. Sometimes exercise helps. Is there
a way to get him to run around a bit -- maybe a trip outside?

All healing vibes and prayers are coming Baby's way.

Shan
Nhu,listen, you are doing everything right, the fact that he doesn't eat on
his own is very normal in case of stasis, that's why you have to force-feed
him no matter what. The advice given by Mickey is exactly what I would
suggest too,I know what you are going through,I've been there a week
ago......!Pepe didn't eat on his own and didn't poo for two days,I was
scared to death, but even when he started nibbling on some hay and on his
pellets,I made sure I syringe fed him for few days still, just to help him a
little bit.......! Canned pumpkin is great, you can also buy squash baby food
if you can't find canned pumpkin....!Make sure the syringe is on the side of
his mouth, not in the center or he might choke since you could send the food
down the wind pipe.Start pushing just a little bit in (putting the tip of
the syringe on the side of the mouth)and he'll sort of start sucking...so
you keep slowly pushing some more in.....and wipe his little mouth or he
might feel uncomfortable if some of the food comes out...
Keep us updated, post and ask as many questions as you want,a little bit from
everyone of us and all your care...will help!!
Hold on.....we are here for you.....Baby is my thoughts......
Shan

Nona
Nhu,

Hang in there.

If you want to consider taking Baby to Gil Stanzione, my vet in
Westchester, his number is 914-431-0020.

I think he is wonderful with rabbits.

You take the train at Grand Central and get off at White Plains and take
a cab. Metro North lets pets in carriers ride.

Wish I could help more. I know how much you love your Baby.

Nona

Laurie
Nhu! Don't panic - when Rosie was in stasis with the broken pelvis she
hardly pooped at all for A WEEK! Scared the crud out of me!! But basically
the critical care/baby food mush (and I just guessed at how much to add -
probably about 2/3 critical care/water ;mix and 1/3 baby food. As long as
she ate it...which she did, about 1 cc at a time!!! (took awhile to finish a
syringeful) - the thought is most of that is basic nutrients and they absorb
most of it so there's very litttle to be pooped out anyway. Plus Rosie was
having every couple days about 150ml of sub=q too! She did seem to pee a lot
with that...but not poops...and when they finally did start after about 10
days they were itty bitty.

So keep forcing the food and knowing you're keeping Baby's gut moving. It's
all you can do for now Nhu.

btw - I was always worrying about filling rosie up to bursting with the
constant forcefeedings and no poops, but that wasn't the case. :-D

Hugs to you,
Laurie and the girls

Rhonda
Hi Nhu,

Critical Care has all the vitamins, etc. they need. Your vet may have
some, or they sell it (and emergency overnight it) at www.oxbowhay.com.

Fingers crossed that Baby is better very soon!

Nhu,
Please don't be sorry, you have enough on your plate.
I think Nona's vet is an option worth considering.
If only for a second opinion?

Hi Nhu,
I'm so sorry about your worry and stress! It does take time, but you may
also want to take him in for an xray to rule out any blockages. Did the vet
feel anything like that? Just hang in there, you are doing a great job.

Arlette & Cocoa
Nhu,
The idea that Baby wants to eat and then doesn't concerns me. Did the vet
check his molars with an otoscope? You really can't see molar spurs properly
without one. A sick bunny usually shows no interest in food, but one with
tooth problems will want to eat, but then will stop because he knows it will
hurt to chew. I don't want to upset you with more things to think about...it
was just not sitting right with me. Ok, let me know :)

hi Arlette,
yes the vet did check his molars with an otoscope and everything fine, i did
force him to eat one tiny parley and kale, yesterday he did a little poop
and pee, so is this morning, sometimes if i put hay or green in his face
long enough he will eat it, i wish he eat on his own, i have everything for
him right now, pumpkin, baby food carrot, apple, squash.
