Hi there,
I accidentally tripped over my cat and stomped his foot. I feel so horrible
cause I heard a crunching noise. I think I may have broken a toe or more I
can't tell. I tried to examine him but I can't tell anything. He is holding
it gingerly and I think he is in a bit of pain. Is there anything I can
safely give him? Is there a point to bringing him to a vet? He's still
walking and jumping. The reason I ask about the vet is because pay day
isn't till friday and I can't see having enough money right now to bring
him. I'm kinda really upset right now, I feel so bad for stomping on his
poor toe. I've never stepped on him before. He's ignoring me and doesn't
seem to care that he's hurt. Geez I'm an idiot.

Marissa,
Sorry to hear about your cat.
Cats canhide their pain and discomfort. I really think it's a good idea
to get him to the vet, especially since you heard a crunch. It could
save you money in the long run if something becomes infected by waiting.
Can you explain the situation to the vet? Hopefully they will let you
pay later.
Let us know how he's doing,
Rhonda

Oh poor Marissa and kitty. I sure know how easy it is to stomp on pets. I
think I've almost did Cocoa in a few times tripping over him in the dark.
Is your cat walking on his foot at all? It could be a broken toe or not. Of
course you would need a vet to tell you for sure. If he is walking on it and
it isn't swollen up, then it can probably wait until pay day. Poor munchkin.

Vets here in Thunder Bay are brutally strict when it comes to paying. NO
MONEY, no treatment. Last week in the newspaper, there was a girl who found
a kitten thrown from a truck and injured(turned out there was a whole litter
abandoned). No vets would treat this rescued animal until she made a plea to
the city to help with funds. Can you believe that???

He is actually acting perfectly normal right now. I looked at it and it
isn't swollen and he allows us to handle it and push on it a bit. He seems
to be just fine. Maybe I just bruised him. He isn't even holding it
gingerly. Gosh I felt awful and he let me too! *L*
Thanks for the advice,
Marissa

I was thinking that crunch sound may have been his nails against the floor.
I sure he would have screamed if he broke something. I'm glad he is better!
