I have been wondering how Jessie is doing all day and I can't find an
update. I hope she has improved and is doing well now.

Hi, Kim. The news is good. Jessie has her feet back under her. Pain in
her eye was apparently what was causing the head to tilt. We (the doc and
I) have debrided little bits of the tiny bot capsule twice. Her head is up
now and she seems to be a lot more comfortable and perky. The capsule may
have been putting pressure on her eye and causing pain. The doctor gave me
some more Baytril yesterday. We don't want to risk abscess in such a bad
place.

Her serology report came back. No Pasturella and a positive but low titer
for E. cuniculi. My Jacksonville vet prescribed a 14-day course of
albendazole. The hind limb weakness was worrisome. I don't know if it was
the E. cuniculi picking up or if it was another reaction to pain. It's hard
to know, since rabbits have the same symptoms for so many problems.

I have learned one thing that I want to share. Temporary head tilt with ear
pulled down and eye clamped shut or iris pulled back is a sign of head pain.
Both Jessie and Toofer had this symptom. I read another message in the
group of a bunny that did this and had an abscess. The pain must be awful
when they do this and they are doing our version of cringing. So we have
another thing that can cause what looks like slight head tilt.

With what you've gone through with Jasmine, I know you know the ups and
downs Jessie is going through. She is a lot better and is getting quite
comfortable in the house. Every place is now her favorite place. She is
talking about packing up our stuff and sticking us outside so we don't get
her house dirty.

Glad to give good news. Thanks for the healing vibes, everyone.

Anita

I am so relieved to hear that Jessie is doing better than before. Yes I know
about the ups and downs. Jasmine has coughed stuff up twice this week. I
don't recall her ever coughing stuff up twice in a week before. I guess it
is a good thing she goes back to the vet on Tuesday. The ups and downs are
so hard to handle. When I get up in the morning I never know what I will
find. Some mornings shes great and then there are days like today that her
coughing up phlegm wakes me up.

It's good to read that Jessie is feeling better. I hope she allows you
the use of at least one room if you promise not to get it dirty. We'll
be keeping her in our prayers for a continued recovery and you don't
find your stuff out in the street.

I'm so glad you found the problem and that Jessie is getting better. We were so worried about her
.... Keep up the good work Jessie and you might want to let your hoomins stay to help you with your
meds ... Be a good girl.

Anita
Jessie sends her best to Jasmine and Bear. She said they can beat these
things. They just gotta get a lot of good rest and tasty food. She also
said to bite the vet, but I told her that wouldn't help at all.

Jessie gives me a look now when I bring her meals. Everything is tainted
with medicine. She eats it, though. It is sure better than going through
syringe feeding wars twice a day.

Kim Mason
Bear is hard to syringe medicines into but Jasmine is so easy. She has been
medicated most of her life and has been on this most recent med twice a day
for almost 4 months so she takes it so well now. I just scoop her up and
squirt it in.
