Hi

Seems like Bailey's abcess/infection is not bothering him so much since I
have been giving him the meds but now he is not eating as much.Still eating
some hay but only when he is hand fed.I remember someone saying that they
used to mix pellets with water to put into a syringe.I have done this but I
recall them saying that they did something different to it so the good
fibre-stuff would go through the syringe and not get caught up in the
opening.Anyone recall this or have any info on how I can get more food into
him.

Thanks,
Leona & Bailey

Leona, can you try some gerber's baby food, like the the vegetable types and
put it into the syringe and feed Bailey some. It is at least something and
nutritious to boot. Carla and Claire.

Or ask your vet for some Oxbow Critical Care - it's a highly nutritious
dried food especially for herbivores you mix with water - and then I mixed
with baby food - squash, sweet potato or carrot - and forcefed to Rosie by
syringe for like 10 days. *sigh* To me it smelled like a bunch of herbs, and
Rosie seemed to like it okay. She's not quite 4 lbs and I fed her 25 cc (25
ml) 3 times a day when she wasn't eating anything else.

Hi Leona,

I used to mix water and pellets for Buns when his teeth bothered him --
but I did not put it in a syringe. Seem like it would not work that way
unless the syringe had a very wide opening.

Buns would eat the "fluff" right off of the plate. I think the smell was
stronger and the fluffiness was enough that it did not bother his teeth.
