hi,
As of noon today, I spoke with the lady who runs the wild bird rescue and
rehab and here's what she had to say....
the little sparrow's wing is set, he's healing nicely but he's not moving
his legs. there is no evidence of a broken neck and after having some tests
done, it's been determined that the sparrow is not sick with a virus as we
had initially thought but rather he was poisoned. we're not sure how or
when.... but whatever he got into, it's caused some neurological damage, his
legs seem paralyzed, he's lying on his good side, he's recovering from the
laceration and broken wing nicely, he's still in ICU and he's beginning to
eat better, he's drinking well and he's peeing and pooping normally. the
rehabilitator is gonna give the little guy about 3 or 4 more days to allow
for some improvement. if he does not improve, the bird will go in to see Dr.
Labonde (our bunny vet) and he will evaluate and consult with his other
exotic vet in the office and then determine the fate of the bird....
after some deliberation with my kids and Carlos, we've decided to call him
Cheapshot. the name just seemed *right* for the little guy! so anyway,
that's the update as of today....

thanks for the update. Glad he is healing nicely but darn about the poison.

Judy and Precious (my little bunny boy)

I love the Name Katherine, it does seem to suit him. Healing vibes sent his

=) thanks! I'm gonna put in a call this afternoon to find out how he's
doing. I've checked the nest and all is well.... unfortunately, we're
finding more birds with west nile virus....

=) thanks! I hope he does too but if his quality of life is gonna be bad,
I'm also willing to say good bye. in about 3 days though we'll know for sure
what's going to happen....
