Joan
My kits absolutely love to play in a kids' wading pool from about 8-9
weeks on and occasionally the adults will get in to play with them.
They seem to gradually outgrow it by around 5 months or so, though.

Only one, and only at the beach. She "attacked" waves. The first time
I took her out I was astonished. I grabbed her out of the water, took
her home, hosed off the sand, and dried her off. I figured she'd
learned a lesson: a one pound ferret can't take on a 10,000 pound
wave. Boy was I wrong.

Next time out she did exactly the same thing, and this time I let her.
Then she did it again, and again, and again. Then it became a routine.
She'd go and go until she got uncomfortably close to the rocks, and
I'd drag her home. Otherwise, I think she would've gone all night.

Naturally she hated baths. Such are ferrets...

They don't seem to like it as much now.

Sandy, those are so cute! I love it when they snorkel and play in
water...well I love it, when they play with anything..lol Ferrets are
more fun, than any other pet I know.

Be careful with the waves, though. Ferrets are very daring and will
try anything to show how invincible they are, but waves can be a bit
dangerous.

That is a great photo! Our fuzzies love water, too. Every day I fill
up a big water bowl for them to snorkel in. They make a huge mess, but
they have fun. They expect it, and I will find them pouting around the
bowl until I fill it back up.

Yes, they can. I grew up at the beach. Academic now... She developed
adrenaloma a couple years back and started slowing down last summer.
Had to put her down last December :( But for 7+ years there wasn't a
wave in the Pacific she wouldn't take on. A mustelid version of Eddie
Aikau... I think she was part sea otter.

None of my others have or have had any interest in the ocean. A couple
of snorkelers and toilet divers, but none like her. One guy got in a
tussle w/ a 6" crab. That was my scariest moment wrt ferrets and the
beach.
