Going to Grandma's house - CLICK HERE for the Pet Manual Forum Home Page
Luci
My family lives about 150 miles away. Since my parents are elderly, we
try to go visit them about every 3 weeks. We have an apartment there,
& our ferrets have a cage identical to the one at home. When we are
getting ready to leave, all I have to say is "let's go see Grandma" &
they all come running. Needless to say, they love their car ride in
the comfy carriers. Not to be left out, my cat Obi also tags along.
Last time we went up, I put him in his carrier at the last minute. He
was so worried that he was going to be left behind. You should have
heard him! I can't wait until the long Labor Day weekend.

LOL, true, but they are sooo smart! My kids will get on the couch and wait
for me to put their harnesses and leashes on if they see me get them out of
the closet. They like to go bye-bye and totally understand and react to
the words 'bye bye' and 'go for a walk' :-)

my ferrets aren't so much like that (except they alway flock to me if
they hear the treat can rattle), but my DOGS!! They are
waaaaaayyyyyyyy too smart for their own good! There are certain words
and phrases we just cannot say in my house, like out or outside, go for
a walk, can or pouch, they just go nuts if they hear these things.
Especially Kendall if she hears go for a walk, she just flips! So, we
have to spell it all out- o u t, w a l k, c a n. Not too long until
they learned how to spell, so now cans are nnn's, and outside is grrr,
lol too funny that we speak in code around the dogs. Oh, we also can't
say bone or they go stand by their treat container, bones are now
beebees, lol.

lol l love hearing stories like this. One of our dogs, tells us when he
wants a bath. He disapears and you find him standing the bath
waiting..lol We used have another dog, and if he heard one of say he
needed a bath, when we get home (ie he'd been rolling in something
awful) he's hide. ..and he was GOOD at hidding..lol He hated baths.
Say walk, treat or catch, though and they all coming running..lol
