Thanks. I didn't show any for a looong time, cos I had trouble finding a
decent hosting site. Not that Photobucket is *ideal*, but at least it works,
& doesn't suddenly either go out of business or dump yer pics.

Let's hope not........that's where I have all mine too :-) I actually
linked up with a site called PhotoWorks and had prints made of my digital
online pics 'just in case' something like that would happen. I've lost
sooo much stuff from crashing computers and scxrewed up websites, I just
don't trust any of them anymore. You can email your digital photos to
PhotoWorks and (at least when I did it) they give you something like the
first 20 pix or so for free. I got a bunch of pix and I think with shipping
and everything it came to something less than $6.00 - good insurance IMHO
:-)

Ah yeah, you certainly know Max, don't you?! He's still as happy & playful
as he was when he was at the shelter. Once he gets going, he's a perpetual
motion machine! As Jean always says, he really *does* seem to be grateful he
was rescued!

Ladies, archive your photos *before* you upload them. CD/DVD burning
isn't exactly new technology..

Yep, done that, although I *didnt'* get around to doing it until last mo.
Also, all my original digital photos are on floppy, cos of the camera I have
(Sony Mavica). So easy to just jam that puppy into the floppy drive, & there
ya go!

But, I want actual photos of a lot of this stuff. Particularly, pics of the
kids, so I can make photo albums for my folks & all. I'm ashamed to admit
that our photo album of our time in Kazakhstan is incomplete, cos I don't
have the pics from my floppys printed up yet. Bad girl!

Procrastinating girl, anyway. One of the best gifts I've ever seen was
a DVD a friend's father gave her. It had all the family photos, w/
captions, from her infancy thru college. He organized them in various
folders; just her, her and her sister, mom, dad, graduations,
vacations, etc. I'll bet it took him 6 months to compile but worth
every minute imo.

Given the resolution of digital cameras, monitors, and flat panels
these days, I don't see the need for paper any more, but that's me.

Hi Lin. I'm new to this newsgroup and noticed your pic of your cat. Do you
have a cat and ferrets? I have only had my two ferrets about a year now, but
have always been told not to have a cat around them. Do you find this to be
a good precaution? Thanks for the help!

I'm not Lin, but I have 5 cats and 4 ferrets :-)
As long as the cats can get away from the ferrets when they're fed up with
them everything's ok.

Nichole Blackmon
Thanks!

Hi everyone. I am a new member. Last year, my husband and I bought two new
ferrets for our 3 year old son's birthday. Anyway, after reading a lot of
your posts I have a few questions I hope you guys can help with. Thanks!

1. I was told that you can ONLY feed ferrets actual ferret food- not
table scraps. Is this true? Also, I was told that you have to stick with the
same brand of food or else it will "mess them up"... is that true too?

2. We've successfully trained them not to bite- hurray! But when we
switched them to a much larger cage (4 levels) they began pooping on all
levels instead of the bottom one which has the litter. We've tried bleach
and even the dog training "stay-off" spray, none of it has worked. Any
suggestions?

3. Let me just say that many people told me that ferrets were not the
best pet for children, but I'm here to say it was not so in my case. They
have their own bedroom and play all afternoon in there. My son is so glad.
But- I was also told to never have another pet, because the ferrets may kill
them.... is this true? (I'd like to get a cat or dog)

4. We only have 2 ferrets right now. 2 girls. We'd like to get 2 more.
The news ones are going to be boys since they are so much bigger- usually.
Anyway, any suggestions on introducing new ferrets to old ones? Can we just
stick them in the same cage together and let that be it, or is that not a
good idea?

Once I get done reading classroom posts (I go to college online and it works
just like this newsgroup does) I'll work on reading some of these over 6,000
posts as quickly as I can as I'm sure many of them have the answers I'm
looking for. Thanks again for any help anyone can offer!!!

Hi Nichole - Sorry I only now saw your post.

Yes, we have one cat & 4 ferrets. *But*, no, they do not mix at all. Some
people have ferrets & cats that get along quite well. However, our Chat is
deathly afraid of the ferrets (she's not a cat - she's a chicken!), so we
don't have that problem.

Our ferrets are all caged when they're not out for playtime, & when we do
have them out, the access to the room is blocked off by a plexiglas barrier,
so Chat can't come in. Sometimes, though, she'll sit next to the barrier &
watch the ferrets play, w/ a mixed look of horror & morbid fascination. :-D

Welcome to the group, BTW!
