My RSPCA Dog, Darcey, has just been diagnosed with Addison's
Disease. He is about 10 years old and deaf. We have had him for 10 weeks and his training was coming on in leaps and bowns.
On Saturday he was sick and from then on he went rappiedly down hill. We took him to the vet yesterday and blood was taken for testing. He was put on a diet and tablets. Over night he became very ill and had difficulty in standing and was sick all the time. I phoned the vet and he was rushed in and put on a drip. The vet carried out some tests and thought it was Ad. He phoned the testing lab to get the offical result which proved him right. As Darcey has a high level of Potassium in his boidy the vet has him on a drip to help clear these and pumped in sterroids to balnce his body. He is still a very sick dog and it is going to take time to be able to say he is safe with normal medication. He would not have made it through but for the quick action of the vet. Soon it will be my job to bring him back as far as possible to full health and administer his drug for the rest of his life. So any tips would be greatfully received.
