Ok, Spirit is my first pet store ferret from Marshalls. I sent in the
registration and was skimming thru the book this early AM. Now, I know it
is not good for a ferret to have dairy products or Choclate or sweet
things...However It said in there if I fed my ferret dairy products it could
cause it to die. Isnt that a little harsh? I once in a while will let me
ferret have dairy or something sweet. Not a lot tho. However it also says
not to give them to many fruits or veggies. Rufus LOVES cucumbers. He has
been eating them for as long as I have had him. Why is feeding veggies to a
ferret bad or are they just trying to buy there diet. Any clues?

Which ferret book are you referring to? Dairy products may cause
diarrhea, as most ferrets are lactose intolerant, but I can't imagine
that they would cause death unless fed exclusively or in excess. My
kits are raised on goat milk as part of their weaning diet and do very
well on it. I also give it as a treat once or twice a week to all my
ferrets. Plain yoghurt is also excellent when a ferret is on
antibiotics, as it aids in restoring the healthy bacteria to the
stomach and intestines.
Since ferrets are obligate carnivores, they do not require
carbohydrates at all in their diet. Vegetables and fruits are not
necessary and can potentially harm them, particularly if fed in excess
or by causing a blockage. There is a good amount of evidence
indicating that insulinoma is a result of a high carbohydrate content
in their diet.

Amy: Our Bacchus is a Marshall's ferret too, with the two little dots on
the right ear. He also gets a small amount of cream and canned milk every
day, he absolutely craves it. Too much gives him loose stools.
I also notice a distinct interest in fruits, e.g., bananas. I don't see any
harm in letting him have a little bit. They seem more a novelty for him, a
few nibbles and he loses interest, unlike with the cream. Sweets and
chocolates I avoid altogether since the latter is known to be poisonous to
some pets. - CW

My ferret is also from Marshall. She loves tomatoes so I give her a slice
from time to time.
I asked her vet and he said it was fine.
I gotta try a peice of cucumber now :)

I know he loves the cucumbers the best because they hold a lot of water in
it. If I go to subway, He always ask "Should I put some on side for rufus"
He knows he loves them. One slice every few days is fine. Did anyone get a
chance to look at my dental questions?
Also...When i change my server from cable modem back to my wireless i cant
use outlook express for groups. I went to google groups and it said i
needed a password. HOw do i fix that?
