hello,
today i noticed that woodys tail is
crooked at the end with a small
bump at the point where the crook
is.
anyone have any ideas on this ?
thanks,
woodys dad

I initially thought this was ****, given the subject and the author!!
LOL

Moving on.....it sounds like his tail may have been broken.

Does Woody have a blaze? Could he be a WS baby? Is he maybe deaf?
Typically, my WS kids all have various kinks in their tails. Not a big
deal, just another thing that makes them special.

This is an example of a "blaze"

Skeeter, as you may notice has a very decernable white 'blaze' or
stripe running back on his head. He is a WS baby. 3 kinks in his
tail, deaf and just not real smart. LOL Id this similiar to what your
Woody looks like?

My blaze, Milo also has the crook right at the tip of his tail, but he
is not deaf. Has all the other blaze characteristics, including the
white blob at the bottom of the tip of his tail. Cute as a button, and
just a big old brat!

Although I have no experience w/ this personally, could this be a chordoma?

Good shot of a blaze here: http://www.ferret.org/events/blaze.htm
It is thought to be caused by a recessive gene, IIRC. Often blazes are
deaf.
WS: " Waardenburg’s syndrome: A genetic defect found in humans, cats,
dogs, mice, and ferrets that results in a white streak of hair, and
sometimes results in hearing problems."

Thanks, Lin. That was my initial thought along with a broken tail. :)

Our Bacchus is a sable with a little blaze on his forehead and he has the
little kink at the end of his tail. His hearing is top notch and he is
healthy as a little horse. I always thought the tail was the result of some
accident before he came to us at 8 weeks of age, but now I'm wondering if
maybe its inborn. - CW

it's a brith defect if you check may ferrets have that bend at the tip
of their tails. if it was a chordoma the ferret will get a bubble like
growth on the tip of the tail.

gator524@gmail.com
A chordoma can grown anywhere on the spine, not just the tip of tail.

The broken tails I've seen on other animals usually have a knot where
the break occurs.

So...it could actually be either.

Go Woody. Have you thought about using Lupron too? I'd worry about a
swollen prostate.
