My ferret has always bin small but now she is awful skinny.
I have just bin forced to put her "sister" to sleep. They have bin together
sins their were puppies, 4 years ago.
I had bin so focused on the sick girl that I didn't notice that the other
one was losing weight.
She hardly eats, buy I give her treats and ferreton oil.
Is there any thing else I can give her to make her gain weight ?
I have gotten a new poppy and they are slowly getting to be friends, with
dos that she doesn't seam sow depressed.
Is there any way that I can help her ?
With regards
Lise Lotte

Sounds like a vet visit is in order!

I would get her to a vet as soon as possible for treatment. Not eating
and losing weight are signs of illness.
I hope she's feeling better soon.

The problem is, we can't see her, and it could be many things. The vet
can do a blood test, and the results posted. That would help some. You
might also try here.

There are vets there also.

As Sandy notes, we can't obseve your ferret. Even if we could, we
don't know as much about ferret medicine as a vet, Danish or not. Or,
*I* don't anyway. Sandy? ;)
Notes: young ferrets are called "kits," not puppies. At least on apf.
You can put weight on any but the sickest of ferrets by feeding heavy
cream or force feeding "duck soup." When they'll no longer take either
of these you, your ferret, and your vet are in trouble.
Questions for you and your vet:
Are all household dogs and ferrets vaccinated for canine distemper?
Is she spayed?
Did you change her food/cage/bedding recently?
What's her length from nose to base of tail?
What's her weight?
I had a jill live almost 8 years and she never got above 650g. Usually
between 500 and 600g. She measured 28cm from nose to base of tail.
This *is* an odd time of year for yours to be losing weight unless
you're in Australia, so I agree there's something wrong.

Not me. That's why I have lots of books and lots of online ferret
friends.
