I've left a similar post in my dog training list.
My dog Quinn, 1 yr old 40# mutt who loves the ferrets and the mink is
going in the same spots my ferrets go in around the house. He also
sprays the ferret cages of the male and male mink cages.
He is otherwise housebroken. I don't know if I should try to watch him
more, clean up after the ferrets better or keep him away from the
ferrets and the mink.

We have something similar going on here, on a smaller scale. As time goes
on, our ferret, Bacchus, is becoming more familiar with our cat, Blackie.
He is still wary of her, but is starting to use his scent as a safe way of
making his mark, so to speak.
Blackie has a favorite chair she sleeps on. So, Bacchus goes up on the
chair when she is not around and rub his back on the surface of the seat.
Its fun to watch since its obviously a fun time for him with his flipping
and yawning that goes with it. Blackie, of course, can't help but notice
the odor with some annoyance, I imagine. Just a little bit of friendly
competition among the household pets. - CW
