The ferret is about 7 months of age. SHe is our only ferret now. She was bought from a local pet store. We had our ferret of 5
years stolen at the end of spring. When we saw her are heart sunk. She was in a long aquarium. Did not respond to us walking by or
talking to her. When the owner got her from cage, she said they never handled her, didnt have time. She kinda dumped her from
aquar. to floor, she had two small children that hang in store to help her. The children swung her by tail when she tried to run
from them, one even kicked her from her side. The children were wild to say the least and were running the store banging about one
animals cage to another. When first home we took her straight to condo, and spent first day talking with alot of kindness. We have
had her a little over a month. When out she is great, funny, fun, but doesnt want touched, she has hid rather well and we have gone
to bed and she awoke us by attacking our neck and hissing. I love her, but from the other ferrets I have raised ( one mine, 3 my
brothers at early age) and the many rescues I have, I feel so much inherent aggression in her already. You know how you can feel a
person or animal. I feel so much anger from her. But I am going to try each suggestion. Thank you all so much. Wish me luck.
And her ofcourse, it is not her fault, poor baby.
God Bless

So she's a fear/stress biter........poor thing :-(
Have patience with her, the last thing she needs is to be sent to another
home again.

Many years back i took in a ferret that would attack its owners he had
so much aggression. the couple i got him from was the little guys 4th
home in 1 year. when i went to meet the couple and get the ferret we
were sitting on the floor in the livingroom visiting and the ferret was
running loose. I was watching this ferret biting this couple the wife
lip was bleeding and i won't say where the husband took a hit. this
ferret had me scared wasn't sure if i really wanted him or not. only i
have already told them i would take the kid. after a few days at home i
noticed the ferret seemed to be afraid to be touched and uncomfortable.
took him to my vets to check him {bad, bad ferret} he was attacking
everyone there. vet had to give him a shot to knot him out to check him
and we found from all the abuse the poor kid had in the past almost
every bone in the ferret body was or had been in the past broken. so
when you touched him it hurt him and so he would strike back and bite.
i made up my mind then that this kid would never leave my side and no
one would ever hurt him again no matter how much he would bite. after
10 surgeries to overhaul him and and lots of patients and love he
turned out to be the greatest ferret i ever had. everyone that meet him
feel in love with him and 8 years later when his day came for him to
leave us forever. 300 people sent card and flowers for him. he changed
many peoples lives and their way of thinking about ferrets being nasty
biter and unable to train them. in his life he was loved by so many and
today is still in their thoughts when ever i talk to anyone and
something come up about ferrets it aways go back to "remember tommy and
the way he was" so hang in there, there is always hope for these kids.
maybe you should have your kid checked to see if maybe there is some
out injuries that is hurting your kid and if they hurt they bite. best
of everything for you and your kid to have a long and happy life like
tom and i had. i still miss that boy's sweet little face. please keep
us posted on how things are going.

Lynn, who is on this list, has a lot of experience with abused fear
biters. She can probably give you a lot of good advice.

Thanks Katharine. Biters are special to me, that's for sure. I did
respond to the poster in the first thread with some of the things that
have worked for me. I hope they work. Key is patience and persistance
when dealing with any issue, but biting especially.
