special spot? & newbie! - CLICK HERE for the Pet Manual Forum Home Page

Hi all!

I'm new to the list... I'm Brianna, my boyfriend is David, and we
share our home with one ferret (soon, very soon, going to be two).
He's a dark-eyed white and his name is Trouble :) I have plenty of
pictures... but I need to get them developed today. Trouble and I met
around Valentine's Day when I worked for Petland and he's been running
our lives ever since :D He's a free roam ferret.

I could go on (and on) about him, I'm sure everyone here understands :)
But the reason I posted is because I have a question - there's a
"special spot" between Trouble's shoulder blades. When you pet/rub him
there he kinda gets stiff, his back arches, and his tail fluffs out!
It's adorable. He seems to like/tolerate it when we pet him there, he
never runs away from the touch.

I couldn't find anything about this just googling so I figured I would
ask here! :) Anyone else experience this? Is it *all* ferrets who have
this spot? Do any of yours?

Thanks!

Brianna

Hi, & welcome!

Oh yeah, my Ariel has that same spot!! The few hairs she has on her little
rat tail will just *spike* out right away into this little tiny bottlebrush!
She (& her brothers) also has that spot just above their tails, that when
you scratch it, they HAVE to lick whatever's in front of them!

One of my ferrets, Micah, has the same type of spot. He'll arch right
up when I rub him there.
