I would like to apologize to anyone who has come here to actually
discuss ferrets. And found all this 'crap' instead.
You are right, it isn't fair for ANY board to be taken over with vulgar
OT posts day after day after day.
So, my apologies to you.
As for the rest of you [and you know who you are] give it a rest.
What is it that you get out of all of this?
Is it just entertainment?
Is it FUN?
It's sick.
And it's sad.
Don't you have ANYTHING better to do?
You all brag about your wonderful ferrets. How well-cared for they are.
How can they be well-cared for when your every waking moment is spent
trashing people on the internet?
Neglected is what your ferrets are. Left to entertain themselves, which
explains why you have a group of them. Giving them free reign, letting
them run amok all over the house...that doesn't count for much if you
do not interact with them, play with them and REALLY love them.
They can entertain one another, so you don't have to be bothered.
Change the food and water every 2 or 3 days.
Dump and refill those litter pans a few times a week.
And come right back to the computer to continue the harassment, the
torment, the lies.
You should be ashamed of yourselves, and I don't think any of you
deserve the ferrets that you have.
I expect the attacks will continue, and you will all write back to tell
everyone how well-loved your ferrets are, and tell everyone about all
the wonderful things you buy for your ferrets, like toys and playpens
and treats.
It's the same as the mother who plunks her kid in front of the TV for
hours on end so she can selfishly go on with what entertains her.
Dedicated ferret owners?? I think not!
Half of you are collectors, the rest are selfish tormentors.
I would like to know what makes you think you are entitled to trash a
ferret board every single day. What gives you the right to impose your
selfishness on others? What makes you believe that your opinions are
that much more important than anyone else's?
Make your own board and spend your days and nights there, writing
whatever you like. Oh! I guess that won't work, you have tried it
before, but it is so unfulfilling because there's no one there for you
to inflict your rants on...and I know you all need an audience or none
of this is any fun for you.

You have no idea of how long 80 days really is until you have to spend
those 80 days in your bed because you are too sick and in too much pain
to try to move.
You have no idea how hard it is to be a cancer patient and have to
watch a loved one die from cancer, listening to her say "Well, if one
of us has to die, I want it to be me"
And she DID die.
You have no idea, and for your sake, I hope you never do.
This devastated my life, and I would not wish it on even my worst

I have had email contact with Mary Shefferman and assured her that
anything on my website that reflected information from her website [and
there were only 2 instances involved] was there not because of any
maliciousness or effort to 'plagiarize' as you so eloquently put it.
I removed the text [which was an insignificant amount] and apologized
to Mary, and I explained that the text in question was on at least a
half dozen other ferret websites. I NEVER 'took' anything from Mary's
website, I had never visited her site until she sent me an email
questioning the text on one page.
[ONE PAGE out of 80 pages.]
Thank you for letting me know that Ms. Shefferman is also a pooflinger.
Just one more person I have to watch out for...it's beginning to become
wuite a long list.

group just a few days ago. Karen included in her profile that she has
MS [Multiple Sclerosis]
Now I do not know if this is true or not, but I would not dare question
it's validity.
I would never write a post and tell Karen, "Well, at least your
symptoms aren't as bad as so&so's"
If she does suffer from MS I feel sorry for her, it is a difficult and
debilitating illness.
And if Karen doesn't have MS, I am very happy for her...maybe I

"When have I helped a ferret owner or a ferret?"
ANSWER: It's a long list, you might want to get yourself a drug-laced
libation...
One time a man came into my pet store with a ferret covered in
head-of-a-pin size deer ticks. I got out my tweezers and magnifying
glass [Oh! Ruth, you know about tweezers and magnifying glasses don't
you?] and I removed 26 ticks from that poor little ferret's body. This
was a very big deal for me as I have Lyme Disease and a tic-phobia.
One morning when I was opening the store I found a small cat carrier
with 3 adult ferrets inside, no food, no water. I bathed them, had my
Vet come in and check them out, took them home for 3 weeks of
quarantine, and then found them a loving forever home where they could
stay together.
Another time, we were expecting a Christmas-time delivery of kits. The
plane was grounded in New York due to inclement weather. I drove from
Massachusetts to New York and picked up the kits so they wouldn't die
while waiting to be transported.
A long-time customer came to my store one day and told me about a
family who lived in her neighborhood. [they were the blight on the
street.]
The customer had gone to the women's house to complain about her
children who had been seen spray painting a neighbors fence and car.
As she spoke to the 'mother' the woman walked into the garage, the
customer followed her. She was appalled to see a dozen ferrets crammed
into cages so encrusted with food and feces, she almost threw up.
I called Animal Rescue and we saved 14 ferrets from that hell hole and
found them all new homes.
Since I have been involved with ferrets, I have taken in more than 35
ferrets who needed love, healthcare, fattening up, training and found
forever homes for them. Thirty-five may not seem like a lot to you, but
I live in a small community where ferret owners are few and far
between. So 35 is a lot of fuzzies to save.
I have found cages, bedding, supplies and food for people who couldn't
afford those things on their own.
And lastly, I WROTE A BOOK to further help owners and future owners
provide optimum care for their ferrets/
My question to you Ruth Craig, is what have YOU done??

Sharon, I think more than anything this is nothing more than the old

friends, too much has happened, too much hurt, too much anger, but we
can settle into an easy truce, kinda like, that is your side of the

will stay over here and leave you alone. What could be so hard or
difficult about that?? Not too much from where I am standing.
I am dealing with a person now who is emailing me the craziest stuff
and it all stems back to the attack McKabe came at me with on the FML.
I didn't do anything to provoke that, I had not said a word to any of
you in months. But this woman is screaming at me about things she has
heard from you all, she doesn't know me, she would not know me if I
were to meet her on the street and hand her a red rose, she doesn't
know one single thing about me other than my name and that part is
truthful, she knows my name is Karen and beyond that, everything she is
accusing me of is a bunch of lies.
I post on here asking about a busy blanket, I am making a couple for
our ferrets and then Millie has to go and make a smart remark to me and
again I ignored it, but why did you feel the need to do that Millie, I
was not bothering you, I was not bothering anyone, I was not saying a
blessed word to any of you in a hateful manner. The web is plenty big
enough for all of us, no one has the market cornered on hogging all the
ferrets or all the ferret knowledge, or all of anything.
It has been said all I do is talk with a hateful nasty mouth and yes
you betcha I can do it when I feel the situation calls for it.
Ladylike?? No, but when I feel I am not being respected, why should I
go out of my way to treat the person saying such ugly things about me
in a respectful manner?? Trustr me, it ain't gonna happen. It all
comes down to treating others as you want to be treated. And in the
past 24 hours I have proven that in spades. I have kept my word, I
have lived up to what I said I would do.
We have gone a 24-hour period without things falling apart, lets go for
another 24 hours with no "almost" jabs being passed and when we
succceed with that one, we can always shoot for 48 hours. Come on, it
can't be that hard for us to just agree to stop trying to kill one
another.

How do I know Sharon is lying on her group? Because I have had a
number of emails from friends who are members of her group telling me
that she is now claiming that the person posting as American Ferrets on
APF is not her. Since there is no doubt whatsoever that the person
posting as American Ferrets IS Sharon, and you yourself obviously know
that it is since you have responded to her in your posts on here, I can
only assume that she now realizes how much she has hurt herself and her
book sales by doing so in such a manner. Unfortunately, she has only
compounded her initial mistake by lying about it. She would have had a
chance to regain the respect of the group members by acknowledging her
mistake and apologizing for it, but she chose not to do so.
Everything I have posted about you and to you is based on your own
words and your own accounts of what you have done. That you appear to
have no concept of your wrongdoing, and indeed continue to repeat it,
is of great concern to all of us who love ferrets and, indeed, all
animals.
Since you brought up your latest "rescue," I wonder if you are aware
that the knee patches you describe are an indication that he has the
WS/KIT syndrome which can result in deafness or loss of hearing, as
well as a number of internal and/or external defects, and very possibly
a weakened immune system. He should have been quarantined and ADV
tested, both for his own protection and that of the ferrets exposed to
him. Your posts make it very clear that neither procedure was
followed.
Now, as I have said repeatedly, if you really do want these posts to
stop, all you need to do is stop posting. No, you did not keep your
word. You have posted a number of times since which I have not
responded to until now. If you continue to post, I will continue to
respond. It's up to you. I have done my best to respond to you in a
civil manner so that you will not have any excuse to continue this.

I was asked to stop the bad language and stop the slamming responses to
people who are slamming me in the first place and I have, I gave my
word and I have kept it. I said when all the lies about me stops on
here I will leave and I will. Things I have said have been taken out
of context and turned around to use against me, that is NOT the truth,
anyone can have a statement taken out of context putting a whole
different spin on it and change the meaning of the original statement.
And truthfully Joan, if you have friends on Sharon's board who are
sending you copies of posts, that person is NOT doing you any favors,
anyone can see there are ones of us here who are trying to stop all
this so that person is doing everything in her power to help keep it
going or disrupt any progress in getting it stopped..
As far as Sharon lying, I don't know anything about that, as I said I
don't read every single post, I don't live in her head or her heart, I
am not privy to everything she thinks or says so I can't say one way or
the other. BUT if the truth is SO important which it should be to
everyone, what about all the lies about me Joan and the people who work
to keep them going, you yourself finding a way to once again work it
into a post.
I probably got over 150 emails about Rosie and at least 3/4 of those
emails were from people I don't know or have only exchanged an email or
two with, these were all from people I did not know, people who were
responding to me AFTER the attack began, the only negative stuff I have
gotten has been from your camp and I think that says a lot about the
whole situation.
I will tell ya something, the lies used to bother me, it bothered me a
lot but it doesn't anymore because I know exactly what went down and
what didn't. You all were not here when John brought Murph home, you
all were not at the vet with me when we were informed that things were
not quite as hunky doorey as first thought, you were not here when we
adopted Rosie, you were not with us when she went for her pre-op exam
and we discussed going forward with the surgery, none of you were here
when doc called me to tell me things fell apart at the end. NONE of
you were with me when things went so badly when my cat Scooter had to
be put down but that did NOT stop you all from coming up with your own
version of what happened which could have not been more different from
what actually happened. When it was all over and doc said to me, Karen
Scooter had a good life with you for all those years. Doc would know
how many years I had him, he saw him the first time when Scooter was 6
weeks old, he neutered him, and he saw him for other things throughout
his life, yes doc would know of the level of care he had not any of you
but you still took my post stolen off another board and re-wrote it,
put your own spin on it and then put it out there for all the world to
see that doc and I tortured this poor cat to death.
You say things will be different if Sharon will admit the lies.... What
if she didn't lie?? Just as I didn't lie about things..... It makes
not one ounce of difference what I say, I can be telling the absolute
truth about things but you all as a group decide what is true and what
isn't and then you accuse me of lying. Did you ever stop to think
maybe YOU are wrong?? You all can't be 100% correct all the time, it
ain't gonna happen.
I have proven I am willing to see all this stop. Throw out the score
card as far as who said what and by whose decision if it is true or
not. How can I say what is true at your house when I don't live
there?? I am not privy to all that is going on in your life so how can
I make a judgment call like that?? I CAN'T, SIMPLE AS THAT.
Yes I want all this to stop, I have said that but how can you
realistically expect me to walk away when the lies continue?? The
easiest way for all this to stop is to stop all the lies, right here,
right now, not stop "most of the way" or we will stop next week, right
here, right now, yesterday, stop the lies, and everything else will
fall into place, it will happen if allowed to.
And as far as you being civil to me, you cannot say I have been
anything except civil right back to you but you cannot expect me to
walk away while the lies continue to be posted about me, it is not

Yes I want this to stop, as I have said many times in the past 18
months and you say it will stop if I just stop posting. I was not
posting to anyone about anything to deserve the attacks I have had on

Most people refrained from retaliating in kind, until it became clear

feeding frenzy. I didn't then and I don't now wish to harm your board
in any form or fashion. I sincerely wanted to be and would still
like to be a part of your board if we could somehow just get past
this. People kept at me and kept at me and kept at me and finally I
came out swinging. Use this scenario if you can; an angry mob gets
after a dog, they drive it relentlessly until it has no where to go,
they have it pinned to the ground. What is that dog gonna do??
Self-preservation is very strong. You are going to do whatever you
have to do to defend yourself. I will share something with you about
myself. When I was a kid I went through a hell of a lot and you are
welcome to read into that whatever you wish but I had to learn to
survive and survive is what I did otherwise I would not have survived
and the same went for my sister and my brother.
Dammit, I don't want to have to spay Murph and abort her kittens, ****
I hate that idea. What were we suppose to do, leave her on the fence,
or once we discovered she was preggers, take her back and put her back
on the fence?? Someone posted in a therad that we should take her to
the police station and leave her there or take her to a vet's office
and leave her there, or take her to a neighbor and leave her there??
Is that not being about 197 THOUSAND times more IRRESPONSIBLE than
having her spayed?? But yet not one single person saw that or made
mention of it. No, everything I say is automatically wrong, and
everyone else on the board is right or that is how it looks from where
I am sitting. Taking her to the police station or to a vet's office
and leaving her there is a sure-fire gurantee that she would be
destroyed along with her kittens. And taking her to a neighbor and
leaving her, that more than likely would get her head blown off if you
did that around here. At the very least it would get her a trip to
the shelter and for sure she would be put down coming in as a perggers
stray. Christ don't you think I racked my brain, John and I both for
a solution for this problem. I finally narrowed it down to this, I
can't financially save Murph and her kittens but I can save her and in
the process prevent these kittens from being born. Dammit Kim, you
work in a vet's office, you have read the satistics what just one
female cat and her offspring can generate in a few short years. My
way of thinking was save Murph, prevent this litter from being born,
give other kittens that will be born a chance. When you look at the
small picture it may not seem this way but if you can just take a step
back and look at it with your brain and not your heart, it makes a hell
of a lot of sense.
I have had several people email me from the board. I have been
getting emails with attachments and I am not opening them because I
think someone is deliberately trying to do me harm by sending me a
virus. But for the ones who have sent nice emails, I was informed by
2 different people, behind the scenes people have been itching for a
fight with me, it has been discussed how to get rid of me on the board
and unfortunately I played right into their hands. I had no idea this
was going on but as I mentioned to you a few weeks back, I felt most
unwelcome and getting the cold shoulder. My gut feeling was
correct. You told me you were not aware of anyone saying they wanted
me off the board and maybe you aren't but Karen M and I think it was
Gendale posted that people were actively trying to figure how to get me
kicked off the board.
People keep saying I was getting pissy, mean, and nasty but that only
came way after I had been called a bitch over and over and people were
writting horrible things about me. Christ when you have an angry
mob on your ass, what are you going to do?? You gonna keep running
or are you gonna take a stand and say enough is enough. I chose to
take a stand.
I worded it very wrong when I posted that I was having a bit of trouble
believing anyone wanted to help me with the cat situation after all
that had been said about me. Look at all this from my side of the
street Kim, it looks a whole hell of a lot differrent than from where
you and Karen M, and Gendale, and the others are standing. I
sincerely wanted to believe they wanted to help but I was afraid as
soon as I said yes, please help me with Murph and her kittens, I would
then be bombarded with **** you bitch and I would have fallen right
into their trap for another public humillation from them. Up until
that time, I had been shown no reason to believe anyone wanted to do
anything more than to tear me limb from limb.
People have posted that Murph has already had her kittens and we stole
her away from them. Christ, that couldn't be further from the
truth. The only kittens that exist in this situation are the ones in
Murph's belly. I would never NEVER do something like that and neither
would John.
I realize fully that there are a lot of knowledgeable people on your
board. People that probably have forgotten more about ferrets than I
will ever know. That is why I wanted to be a part of your board, to
learn all I could about fuzzies. And I also realize you have a very
unique board, it is not set up for everyone to be nicey-nicey like
other boards but Kim, you gotta have even a few loose rules. Rules
and laws are necessary in society, otherwise things turn into complet
chaos which is what has happned on the board. Please, I am not trying
to tell you how your conduct your business but I am being slaughtered
here and it is being allowed.
I am more than willing to work with you or anyone else to rectify this
situation and I tried on the board. But it made no difference what I
said, I was automatically wrong, no one was willing to listen. I am
still willing to work with someone about Murph. This is not set in
stone that she will be spayed on Tuesday and her kittens aborted, that
could all change. All I asked for was a simple apology. I am not
expecting anyone to agree with me or say I was right. All I am asking
for from people is hey Karen, maybe we were hasty in the things we said
to you. Could you forgive us and we get past this?? Would that be
so difficult for anyone?? I have not lived for 47 years and not
learned a little something. You cannot put out a fire by throwing
gasoline on it. People just kept piling on more **** when it would
have been so simple to bring the whole thing to a screeching hault,
everyone stop, count to 10, take a deep breath and come at this using
their head and not just their hearts. I am not asking for anyone to
compromise their values or pats on the back as someone suggested, I am
merely asking to be treated like a human being and not a monster. I
am just asking for people to see that maybe, just maybe they acted a
bit in haste. Years ago when my dad (actually he was my step-dad)
would come home drunk as all hell I would plead with mom, please don't
start anything with him, you know what will happen. We would all be
in bed pretending to be asleep and if mom didn't start any **** with
him he would go pass out somewhere. But no, she had to start some
**** with him. So what if he went into her ******* kitchen and made a
mess fixing himself something to eat, I promised her I would get up
after he passed out and clean up the mess, just don't start anything
with him. Did she listen, did she use a little finess to get past the
situation and not cause all hell to break loose?? No, she would get
up, start some **** with him which resulted in not only her but all 3
of us kids getting the **** beat out of us. I am not trying to excuse
dad, he was wrong, but dam, mom didn't have to make the situation worse
by doing what she did and the same goes for this situation. Sometimes
you gotta use a little finess, you gotta be diplomatic, you can still
achieve your goal but use your head.
Goddam it, those people hurt me and said some very hateful things about
me. They held all the power over me for several days. I wanted to
get their attention and maybe get some small apology from them or at
the very least get them to see I was not a monster. Granted it all
went to **** but I still feel that I have been treated very
unfairly. One person comes out againt me and before you know it
everyone is heaping handsfull of fresh **** on the fan. Things began
to die down a bit yesterday and along comes Karen M to fan the flames
again. And then she pulls that number about well she would just leave
the board, that was a sympathy play if I ever saw one. Kim, I am a
reasonable human being and I would like to see this resolved. I would
even be willing to talk to you about it long distance. If you will
give me your phone number, I will call you on my nickle so we can
discuss it. I am not Hitler's assistant.
Just like with my birds, if I can't take care of them anymore, if I
can't give them the love and attention they so richly deserve, would
they not be better off with someone else?? Christ, why is that so
hard for anyone to see. Everyone on the board is suppose to be animal
lovers. Someone said they would do all they could to hurt me if I
followed through with selling my birds. Why in God's name would
anyone want to see these bird remain in a home where they are not
getting the love and attention they deserve?? That is insane!!! I
am not the monster I am being painted to be. Even I know the birds
need a better home and that is exactly what I am trying to do.

Hi
Some of you may be aware of an ongoing war of words involving several
pooflingers and me and a few members of this group on the apf [Google
usenet] board.
Several people have emailed me asking how I could use such vulgar
language and profanity on that board.
Here is my reply:
It isn't me!
Someone, a member of pooflingers and web site owner [ferrets] thought
it would be funny to impersonate me. She got a Yahoo account using the
name americanferrits@yahoo.com and she began posting all over the
place, pretending to be me.
I do not think this is at all funny.
I spent the last year writing a book and have worked on my website and
this group for 3 years now.
Anyone who knows me knows it is not my style to attack people with
vulgar language, I am much more the type to simply ignore you and hope
you will go away.
I made an abuse report for impersonation and harassment to Yahoo, they
didn't do anything about it. They basically told me to save all the
posts and emails, document the abuse and call the police.
I do know who the person is who is doing this to me, but I have chosen
to just be patient and see if she stops on her own.
She is also the same person who went to several bookseller sites and
wrote some very negative reviews for my book, which she has not read
yet.
Maybe this person is jealous?
Maybe she's just mentally ill.
I don't know and I really don't care.
I just want to let my group members know that if you read any of these
posts, it is not me writing them.
