Meaningless, and also untrue.

Untrue (that means it's a lie).

1 - because something is untrue does not make it's a lie - it may be a
simple misconception or an inaccurate statement of facts.
2 - I have two cats who show up at their dinner plates at 5:30PM each day
for their supper. If they didn't have the "expectation" of being fed,
why would they be there? Ergo, if I didn't give them their supper, then
their expectations would not have been met. "Disappointment" is not a
profound emotion - in fact, it is a basic, primitive emotion. Why on
earth would it be exclusive to human animals alone?

It is one of two things:
1. he really is too stupid to understand that animals experience the emotions
that they very much appear to be experiencing.
2. he really is not that stupid, he's just lying again.

That's right. It's another one for "The cowardice of Goo", which is a list of
things he is afraid to even try to explain. Goo declares that animals are not
capable of experiencing certain simple emotions, but he does and always will
fail to explain what magic thing causes them to appear to experience the
emotions which they do appear to be experiencing, and coincidentally appear
to be experiencing them under conditions which could very easily cause the
emotional feelings they appear to be experiencing.

There is absolutely no reason. But Goo and Derek are "Animal Rights"
kooks, so they are likely to tell any lie, or present any absurd, stupid idea at
any time. And the question always remains: why do they lie???

They do not. You are projecting YOUR emotions onto
them. It's a moral failing.
