travel overland with tiels in EU? - CLICK HERE for the Pet Manual Forum Home Page

hello,i thought someone around here might know about this. I currently
reside in spain and would like to go caravaning for two months around
europe.

i have a pet cockatiel which is very attached to me and which leaving
behind with someone else is not an option.

Are there any restrictions on travelling overland with a small pet in a
cage?Do ferry crossings between countries have any procedures? Any
particular countries?I will be travelling within EU zone. Thanks

Paulo
YOu shouldnt have any problem. Just in case just have your bird's papers
with you.

You need to contact the department of agriculture in the countries you plan
to visit to see what the requirements are. You will not be allowed to cross
any borders within the EU without the correct relevant import/export
licences and the veterinary health certificates.
Failure to produce these may well spell confiscation of your pet.

Well that was a stupid thing to say wasn't it? If you don't know, why bother
posting ? Your advice as it happens, is completely wrong. Even within the
European Union there are rules and legislation about crossing borders with
any kind of animal.

Not only do I know what I'm talking about but I live over here and had to
find out about this last year when I was considering a move to France.
So come on, do tell how you know what the laws are in the various European
countries.

Whatever Pammy sweet girl! You are a real lady....and maybe your problem is
you are in UK and not in Spain.
As you must know, UK has special rules for everything, the only country
within EU without euro, then all over there is an exception.

But he wants to travel through Europe and all the European countries have
certain rules appertaining to crossing borders with animals.

See what I mean about you knowing bugger all about Europe? Only you would
never admit to that of course.
