Not to be confrontational here, but how do we really know who makes the
best pellet and why do you say Zupreem is "McDonals of pellets" to me
that means you think they put out a pretty bad product?

I think Gloria made a really good point about staying away from KayTee
because of some of their practices (mass breeding), her approach to a 3
part diet sounds really solid to me.

It sounds solid to me, too--but how, How, HOW does one get the older,
seed-established parrots to eat the pellets at ALL??
I've worried about this for a few years now, and the new avian vet at my
practice YELLED at me, even though two of my parrots are 28 years old, and
one is 18, and have done just fine, thank you, on a 95% seed diet. Two out
of three will not eat any vegies at all, but will eat fruit and grain-based
products (crackers, bread), the other eats selective fruits and vegies, but
"dunks" anything really solid or colored--HELLO, pellets in water dish.

Anyway, I'm on week four of the slow-conversion method, using a mixed
variety of bulk-purchased pellets, some
"fruit", some plain, a few small sizes and some larger, I'm up to about
70-30 mix, the birds are NOT happy with it. The YNA, especially, is now
eating very little, really diging around to pick out the seeds. My husband
says it's myu imagination, but he appears to have lost some weight to me.
The CAG is the neatest, anyway, carefully oicking out the seeds, leaving
most of the plain pellets behind, and then drowning all the bigger pieces
and most of the fruit pellets. The SC2 pulls no punches, he just tosses
and throws around 'till he finds the seeds, eats what he wants, then uses
his foot to neatly pick up and empty the bowl, then screams his head off.
I really FEEL I should convert them--and no doubt this subject has been beat
to death here--but it's scaring me the quantity they are NOT eating. Has
anyone successfully converted older birds like this???
