Indeed. I mix species. I currently have green cheekd and maroon bellied
conures in with cockatiels but the aviary flight is some 20 fet long and 10
feet wide and the inner shed is 10 ft by 10 ft.
a tiny 6X4 foot aviary is suitable only for one pair of budgies and already
the OP has far too many birds in it. Should the RSPCA see it, she will be
told to either get a larger aviary or find homes for some of the birds.

yeh totally agree with you regarding the room. needs more for what is being
kept.

however as im not a breeder i dont know the exact needs of species so didnt
want to comment on that.

olympia05
aviary size i was talking about is the flight area
this is adequate thankyou seeing as i got the aviary and birds from rspca in the first instance i want advice what birds i can mix together not on how to care for them thankyou very much only comment if you have something constructive to say

Neither am I a breeder as such but I do keep a lot of birds. I started with
tiny flights such as the OP has but never kept more than one pair per
flight.I get very cross when people cram too many birds into such a small
space as it inevitably ends up with birds getting killed or maimed by other
birds and because there are simply too many, they end up dying from stress
or disease.

You are telling lies I'm afraid. The RSPCA would not supply you with an
aviary, they are rehomers of animals not aviary sellers. I work closely with
the RSPCA on occasions as I do rescue and have had to foster birds from
overcrowded flights such as yours. I am sorry I have told the truth and not
simply said what you wanted to hear, but the facts remain that you have far
too many birds in too small a space and if you want to cram even more in
regardless of their welfare you deserve to be prosecuted.
If you got your birds from the RSPCA, which I doubt, then go back and ask
them how many more you can cram in and what else they have to rehome you. I
will be contacting the RSPCA in your area to ask whether what you say is
true and if it is, initiating an enquiry as to why they have let birds go to
someone who neither cares about their health and wellbeing, but who doesn't
have proper facilities and also why they themselves say it is fine to
overcrowd birds when I know they have prosecuted people for overcrowding
because it causes all kinds of problems.
You are the sort of person who should not be allowed to have birds as it is
obvious that you care little or nothing for them.

olympia05
you are very wrong in your assumptions im afraid and you upset me with your accusations i did indeed get the birds i have at present from the rspca and they inspected my aviary before rehoming the flight might be smaller than others but overall size is substantial the inside space is a further 6ft by 4ft so the entire aviary is 12ft by 4ft in other words long and narrow
dont jump to conclusions you know nothing about myself and if indeed i didnt care why would i ask advice would i not just go ahead and do as i please so think before you accuse

But you *said* "i got the aviary and birds from
rspca ". You specifically said you got the aviary AND the birds, and now you
say that you got the birds and they *inspected* the aviary. Your initial
post made no mention of the size of the aviary, simply that it was an
outside one of 6 x 4 feet. You are a liar and have been caught lying so why
should anyone believe anything else you say?
I will ask Chesterfield branch RSPCA.

olympia05
my initial post was to ask advice on bird species that compliment each other i do not have to justify myself to you on the size of the aviary this matter has been dealt with so believe what you wish i find you abusive and obnoxious calling me a liar speak to whom you wish i personally have no worries as i know i followed all the correct channels you obviously have no respect for others not many of us have a garden the size you mention let alone to put an aviary of that size i have visited local farms and specifically the butterfly park in sheffield who also have birds of prey in smaller enclosures than my own so go get alife and let others be:mad:

have you ever heard of a thing called 'punctuation'?
If you do not have the space to have an aviary the size of mine so what? If
you do not have the space to properly keep as many birds as you want, hard
luck.
I fail to see what birds of prey have to do with anything as their
requirements are totally different to aviary birds being as that they are
normally flown daily .

never done it myself.

but what ive heard is this.

the species need to complement each others personality.

the aviary needs to be of sufficient size to offer enough territory for both
species.

plenty of breeders ive spoken to do mix species with a lot of success.
