I've always wanted a ferret, but was always overridden by my wife.
About a month ago, she stopped into the local pet shop for some fish
food, and came home with Rosie, a Marshall ferret (sable) about 8 weeks
old. "She was all alone, and looked so sad!"
Today, I went to another shop for some dog/ferret toys, and came home
with Coco, a cinnamon male about 8 weeks old.
These things are like potato chips... You can't stop at one.
I've converted an old corner unit that we had a television in into a
four level ferret house. Rosie sleeps either in her hammock that I made
out of an old pair of jeans, or in her cave on the top level. So far,
Coco is in the original wire cage that we bought, until the two get used
to each other. Rosie is a bit pushy so far, but I haven't seen any real
biting. She DID drag him around by his butt a couple times, though.

Welcome to the crowd.
I got about the same combo but both girls. Daisy a little Black Sable
runt I
got first. Got her trained to use a hammock and litter box etc, but
also thought
she needed company. I had Daisy 2 months when I went out and got
Cinnamon.
Daisy took to her immediatly and taught Cinnamon to sleep in a hammock
and use
a litter box. There was a lot of vocalizing which must of been Daisy
with instructions.
They are the best of pals and I never separate them. And they wrestle
regularly when
out of the cage. I only step in if Daisy grabs Cinnamon by the ear. I
dont want a
ferret with ragged ears.
I was holding Cinnamon last week and she started vocalizing and
squirming. She then bit
me so I put her down, and she immediatly ran to the litter box. Thats
what she was
trying to tell me.
I just updated my Ferret slide show today with some new images. You
can see Daisy and
Cinnamon here: http://oakgrovedesigns.net/ferretSS/
Frank.
PS: A true Cinnamon has Ruby eyes, but it is difficult to see.

His eyes are definately black... Maybe he IS a chocolate. The name fits
better, then.
Either way, he is a great little guy.

The link requires a password, but did get advertising for Yahoos X
Rated site.
I would recommend posting pics to one of the camera sites (fewer
restrictions),
perhaps the brand of camera you have. Always anxious to see Ferret
pics.....
I had my Daisy for about a week and had not came up with a name for
her yet.
My Daughter called and I told her about the nameless Ferret, and she
popped up
Daisy. It stuck as Daisy is a small Ferret (2# at 1 year old) fitted
her well.
Then 2 months later (4th of July) I decided Daisy really needed
company. Went to
Petco and fell in love with a cute Cinnamon Ferret. And she got her
name right
there at the Checkout counter.
The two are real buddies now.
Frank.

ftr - 2# is about average weight for a jill. Lucy never weighed more
than 580 grams, and would drop down to ~480g (1#) before summer.
That's a small ferret.

Cinnamons have a reddish tinge. Chocolates are brown, and black is
called "black self" or "black sable." Light brown ferrets are called
"champagnes," which is what I'd guess Cinny is. You can get the AFA's
description of colors and patterns at:

Yikes - don't like the idea that they advertised for an x-rated site - guess
I will have to change to another site
Until I find one - I think this is the URL you have to use instead:

Do you have any recomendations - I just put my pics up yesterday to yahoo to
show off my cats also ;-)

My daisy is a very small fert also - she is going to be two this year and is
not quite 2#. We got her first and then decided to get her a bud. Cinnamon
is also small, just over 2#. We were looking at 2 cinnamon colored ones (I
wanted an albino - but they didn't have any - then I saw the cinnys and
thought they were cute), BUT Daisy had her own opinion. She picked Cinnomon,
ignoring the ones I wanted to pick. I am not sure which "color" cinnamon is,
I guess a chocolate? She and Daisy look alike, but Daisy is black, and Cinny
is brown.
