This little dovie is the best. When the cockatiels and budgie "talk"
to me, the little dove chimes in with his little "coo". Adorable.
Last year I was at the feed store getting wild bird seed when I saw a
cage filled with banded Diamond Doves, one sitting on the bottom of the
cage all fluffed up with others pecking at him, so I "stole" him and
put him in my jacket pocket and brought him home. I realized that he
was not yet weaned, so I hand fed him and he was fine. I should have
returned him when he was weaned, but I didn't. I know he would like to
have one of his own kind with whom to hobnob with, but I don't dare
risk eggs.
My little blue budgie was a rescue, also, and he is alone right next to
the dove's cage. Dovie is not a messy bird like the 'tiels and budgie.
And Mattie was a total messy bird, but I did not mind. I still miss
her.
A friend of mine lost a 25 year old Amazon yesterday morning - it just
flat out died. He is beside himself, and his wife is inconsolable.
What can you do? Nothing. So please have some good thoughts for good
old Cisco. He did die with his mom cradling him, so that was a good
thing.

Steal another one?
Andee
I answered my own rhetorical question, MJ. But you might be on to
something there. The guy has lots of patients from which he could
steal,
so I will suggest it.
