Andee
Strange how history repeats itself. Teflon brings out the
beast in the best of us! Remember the ruckus in the Winter
of 1999? Dan Spencer and I? Traumatized me for life.

Hi everyone. I lurk here from time to time. My flock
fluctuates all the time. I still have Daisy and Oscar
and their three chicks (now three years old) and my
amazing Meyers, Mattie, died in November. Out of the
clear blue. Fine one day and the following morning was
making noises - little peeping noises, so I immediately
took her to the vet - I knew the office opened at 7am, and
by the time we arrived, she was gone. I am still heartbroken.
The necropsy showed air sacs and lung on the left had
"granulomatous material" and blood and the vet thinks she
had aspirated a seed. I have birds dropped on my front
porch from time to time - word gets around. I have been able
to find good homes for them all. Well, a couple I had to keep,
a little blue budgie and a diamond dove. Adorable.

I send you my best. How is Mamabird? I have emailed her a few
times and have received no response.

Nice to hear from you again Andee. You will be glad to hear Dan has years
ago fallen by the way side. If he was too much for you though I tend to
doubt Usenet is a healthy place for you <G>.
Sorry to hear about the baby, it's always so hard to loose a loved pet. I
still well remember when I had to have my Macaw put down. I still miss that
guy every time I look at Charlie, or go through old pictures of Denis.
I was thinking about Mamabird the other day too. Laurie, have you heard
anything from her?

I was such a stereotypical newbie! No more, Alex. I remember the
losses - so many. You, Marco, Wheeler - Mamabird - and then the
biggest loss of all, human Doug. I really liked the man - I saw his
trained animals in Crystal Bay or some such place on the East coast,
and I felt a kinship. He gave me good advice, as did everyone in the
group. Believe it or don't, I dreamed about Dan Spencer last night
after writing about him yesterday, and he was being ever so nice to me.
I dreamed about Laurie, too. I miss being in touch with all the old
timers in this group. We had such fun. I wish I knew how to post a
photo in this group. I would send you a pic of the new love of my
life, a Lhasa I rescued last February. Max. He is eight years old,
cranky and protective, and he does not like men or noisy kids. The
noisy kids part he may have learned from me, but the man thing - well,
I don't know where he got that!!!! I have subscribed to the group so
the posts will come directly to my email. So long for now, and I send
my best to everyone.

Ok c'mon now Alex...Dan Spencer could be ruthless! Especially about Teflon
and Febreeze. Remember when I accused him of working for the company that
makes them? LOL I miss that ol' dog though...we used to have a ton-o-fun
back then.

Last time I heard from Mama, she was just coming off her last round of
chemo...but she sounded absolutely perky and happy. I think she's a tough
old bird (MB, if you're reading this, don't kill me for that ;^) and too
damn stubborn to let this cancer get her! I'll try to get ahold of her this
weekend and update you that are interested after we talk.

So sorry to hear about Mattie, granny. That sucks. Tell me about the
dove...are they fun?

Laurie - who's very happy to see you here.
