Blueyonder covers Northwest UK???
There is a petshop in Layton, Blackpool had two about two weeks ago, also a
garden centre in Bolton had some about 3-4 days ago.

Maybe, but not exclusively - I'm in the SouthEast UK.
Anyway, I would recommend looking for ferret shelters: the ferts need a
home, the person running it knows more than the usual pets shop staff, and
would probably let the o/p take her current ferret in to help chose its
friend.
