Possibly adrenal disease of some sort. Find a ferret-knowledgable vet ASAP.

My guess is a adrenal, though I don't recall hairloss happenig so quickly.
Mine have lost large amounts during shedding. If the hair is not growing
back, it would probably be adrenal.

From my experience, it's not unusual for "regular" vets to be baffled by
fairly common ferret problems. I suspect you didn't take your ferret to an
'exotics' vet or you would have gotten answers. Please post where you are
and we can help you locate a ferret vet nearest to you. That's about the
most we can do at this point. It's impossible for any of us to diagnose
your ferret.

IF your ferret has stopped eating, is vomiting or has diarrhea, you have an
emergency on your hands. You didn't so that in your post, but just thought I
would let you know that, in case you don't already know. Ferrets need
really quick medical help if they vomit, have diarrhea or are not eating.

Anything that makes a ferret lose fur in clumps like that needs to be seen
by a ferret vet as soon as possible for an accurate diagnosis. Ferrets are
just little guys and lose ground really fast when they are sick, so we don't
have time to waste. Everyone should have a ferret vet's contact information
on hand, so they don't need to *start* looking after the illness begins.
Please don't delay...............and for anyone out there who hasn't already
located a vet in your area who specializes in ferrets, please don't wait
until your ferret is sick to look for one.

Best of luck to you........post your location ASAP so we can help guide you
to a proper vet for your little guy.......
