Patter of tiny feet. - CLICK HERE for the Pet Manual Forum Home Page

At 2.35am on Wednesday morning we heard the patter of tiny feet.
..
..
.... tiny white weasel feet, that is! We both woke up and mumbled similar
phrases to "I think there's a ferret loose" Then the noise turned into one
of 'hoppity, hoppity, hoppity' as Biffa made his way up the stairs and into
our room. "Well, what are you doing out? Hmm, the door on the cage must be
open - I bet the others are out too. Better go find them."
Now, in the half darkness, half awake stage ~everything~ looks like a ferret
on the loose! We checked plastic bags, shoes, fleeces, newspaper leaflets.
No signs. Check the cage, and everyone else is in there fast asleep! Looks
like Biff was the only one who checked the catflap on the cage and found it
open.

Moral: check the catflap before going to bed. OK. Late last night "What's
that noise? NOT again!" Check flap - closed. Whoops, must have forgotten
to do a nose count before closing time. Biffa I'm sure you were in the
cage.

Oh well, at least you know where to find us, and you were very good in not
trashing the house on your way. :o)

Weird! We had the exact same thing here happen last Thur morning at 6a! Jim
woke up, thinking he heard something rustling around. There was a basket of
clean bathtowels that I brought up right before bedtime Wed night sitting
there, & Jim saw a little white head poking out. Turned on the light, sure
enough, it was Max. Jim woke me up - "Lin, we got trouble. We got ferrets!"
The problem w/ this is that 3 of our 4 fuzzies are deaf, so we can't exactly
just *call* most of them! We thought we were in for a major search, but it
turns out Max was the only one who'd made a break for it. Turns out it was
my fault. When I put them in for the night, I forgot to hook the
spring-&-snap-hook latch on the bottom left door, & Max shoved the door
open.
