I have two pairs of Zebra Finches in a large cage. They have paired up, created nests in the baskets I provided, and sleep in them at night. The problem is that one pair currently have four eggs and won't sit on them. They have laid eggs in the past and have displayed the same behavior. What would cause this behavior? There are no outside distractions to their cage and we keep interference such as feedings and cage cleanings to a minimum. Can they tell if their eggs are not fertile? Are they too young? Thanks!
