Today whilst in Gloucestershire l popped into the Barn Owl centre, Nr.
Gloucester, after hearing about it from a fellow twitcher.
What an experience!!
The centre, which houses mostly rescued and unwanted captive bred Barn
Owls, Eagle owls, Tawny owls, as well as Harris Hawks and Buzzards.
If pre-booked you can even experience flying and educational sections
with their beautiful birds of prey.
l highly recommend a visit...

It isn't really spamming as he doesn't own or run the barn owl site. And
it *is* a very informative site.
Actually I like the layout of the website too, very easy to use.
A registered charity too.
In fact I liked the site so much I will give it another mention.

My mistake, he's just a dishonest bloke involved with a charity (good
combination) that he earns money from but said he had never heard of. There
is a link on their site to his company (still not spam?) but he may have
forgot that he was involved with them, as the last time he updated their
site was.....errr ... this morning.
Cheers

So there is a link to him. So what? There might be websites that mention me
or link to my webpage. Does this mean that I may never mention those sites,
even though they are on topic and relevant to this newsgroup?
Don't be so petty. He posted a link to a well laid out and informative
website, which I for one found interesting and educational especially as I
have an owl.
How will his mentioning the barn owl site, be benefiting him ?How is that
classed as spam? He was not selling the barn owl site, nor was he selling
barn owls. He never said to go to the site and if you liked it, he built, it
so get in touch. He simply mentioned a good site.

If one is interested in owls, it is indeed a very good website with loads
of info and some great photos.

He said he heard about it from a "fellow twitcher" which, according to a
google search means "birdwatcher".
Side note for non British folks: a "curtain twitcher" is a peeping tom.
Don't you love this stuff?
Anyway, his name is on the source code as one of two authors of the site.
Had it been mine, I would have proudly taken credit for my creation and
recommended the facility at the same time. But, we all don't do things the
same way. Fearless honesty works for me.

Naughty, naughty :-)
There's a lot of scope for one's imagination there, of course:
In uk.rec.cycling - "I heard of it from a fellow cyclist"
In uk.rec.driving - "The local garage told me about it when I was
filling up with petrol"
In uk.d-i-y - "I helped build the cages"
In uk.rec.skydiving - "I happened to spot it from the air"
In uk.rec.drugs.cannabis - "Stone me, I dreamt about it"

HOW ODD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You can scan the newsgroups to pick someone else up and lambaste them with
your superior technical knowledge, but are unable to scan my postings to
produce the evidence that I am a liar.
There you are folks. The man is a mischief maker and doesn't mind treading
on someone else.
And in case you haven't remembered the posting, here it is again ;
Mabbett once again you have made an accusation on a newsgroup as follows:
.............................................................................
.......................
Crowe, though, is a liar; there are even multiple lies in his posts in
this thread; I'd advise you not to believe anything he says without
independent verification.

I would be more than grateful if you would post what you deem to be lies in
order that I can either explain or apologise.
This time, 'a no response' will see me posting onto every newsgroup you
visit, with an explanation that you are two faced, I am too well respected
to have any attempt at lies plastered all over the newsgroups which are not
denied by the poster. As for your actions in the men's toilets which are so
frequently posted, I have no idea, but with your record on 'no response' to
me with regards to your calling me a liar, and a 'no response' from you
denying your men's toilets activities, I can only assume these are correct
too.
As a matter of interest to you, one of the regulars on uk.rec.gardening, is
quite shocked at the revalations of your men's toilet activities and has
asked me if this is really true. Again I am unable to say any more than,
'Well he hasn't denied it and he has had plenty of opportunities'

Hi Gill
I am afraid that you have before you a 1st Class example of Andy Mabbett's
type of posting. I have been a victim of his vicious postings and have
'dared' to stand up to the scoundrel. He is a totally obnoxious character
who can be equalled to the silly little school boy who will pull a little
girl's pigtails and then run away round the corner. His action against these
little girls, is because according to postings on the newsgroups about his
behaviour in the men's toilets, he is not interested in the female species,
in fact in a posting he made quite some time ago, and I am talking a few
years ago so I am unable to substantiate the date with proof, but he
actually said in reply to someone's comments about a wife, something on the
lines of 'Do what I did, get rid of her'. At the time I was unaware of his
interest in the 'Men's Toilets'
You will also find he does not respond to any posting madeabout him. Like
the little school boy, he has gone.
HOWEVER, he does read the posts. Don't you Mabbett?
Best wishes
Mike

Explains it all. I wonder did anyone investigate mabbets garden after
he said that? did he have a patio installed all of a sudden?

He probably bashes his bishop whilst reading the posts, the dirty git.

I wasn't just referring to Andy, far too many posts on this news group
are carelessly rude or nasty, aggressive often personal attacks on
people who are just asking innocent questions or offering information
that might be of interest, and there's no need.
I hardly even visit this news group anymore as probably only 1 in
twelve posts are helpful, interesting to read or even relevant. I
suspect that those birders of expert skill, whose knowledge is
priceless are also driven away from this group by the attitude of so
many posters, who seem to use this newsgroup as a place to start
schoolboy wars with words, rather than as a place to ask questions,
help with answers and be involved in mature informative debate that
doesn't descend into name calling and silly unfounded accusations.

silly unfounded accusations.
hear hear.
I am 101% behind with that comment. Well done you for raising the point and
thank you. Unfounded accusations spread across the newsgroup are very off
putting and that is just what I am up against.
Best wishes

My Name is Vincent Jones, Centre Director of The barn Owl Centre in Gloucestershire.
On reading the forum & the mention of our organisation, I am amazed of the small-minded people that use the forum, yet there are some on the forum that do care & understand.
Surely the promotion & awareness of such a Centre & what it does to help Owls (wild or captive bred) is a benefit.
Our organisation supports three important issues, which seems to be forgotten: Education, Conservation & Bird Welfare.
