Read my post again, I said a BASE for H/R and maintenance diet.
Naturally it would have to be mixed with other ingredients.
10% fat is too high as well, for anything other than Macaws or Capes.

You wouldn't be expected to know but most h/r formulas have a protein
percentage of between 17 and 20% and that is usually soya protein,
which leaves much to be desired. It is not easy to find a base staple
with anywhere near the analysis claimed for this bean/pea.
Aviplus in S.Africa are conducting a nutrititional analysis on lupins
right now but then they are not as bright as you, are they now?
Put a sock in it OM. You only show up your own ignorance when you
go off at the mouth, just for effect, like you are doing at present.
I don't have the time or the inclination to mix my own H/r formula,
so naturally I do use a proprietary brand and will continue to do so.
I don't keep any babies reared on oestrogen loaded soya protein,
back for breeding, because I believe that to be one of the prime
reasons for them making poor breeders in the first instance.

Since I had a 'run in' with OM (and to a lesser extent you) some time back,

I have read some articles about lupin and its use in different farm animals.
It sounds almost too good to be true. Would you happen to have heard of its
use in feed for hair goats? I know S. Africa produces some outstanding
angora goats.

I simply asked a question as I could not understand why anyone would muck
about with a successful formular.
In real life do you simply expect people to assume that you are correct in
all things and never question you?

It has long been known that hand reared birds do not make good breeders but
not because of what they have been fed, rather because they are more bonded
to humans than others of t heir species. And there has been scientific doubt
placed upon the type and amount of oestrogen in soya in recent years. This I
know because I am going through the menopause and because I am not happy
with the cruelty involved in the production of premarin, I needed to look at
alternatives. Soya was one I looked at and discarded.

But the whole point about information is that people will want to question
things and have points clarified, not simply accept every worth in blind

They have been used as fodder for generations here but mostly in silage.
I don't think the nutritional value has been fully appreciated before.
Lupins have always been used as a rotational crop to replace nitrogen in
the soil. The treated seed for planting is available on order but trying to
find
untreated fodder seed is not that easy. Most farmers harvest for silage
before the seed pods have ripened. Hopefully all that will change now
and we will be able to buy lupins in the produce stores.
Seed for planting sells at around US$ .50c a Kg (2.2 lbs). So in addition
to it's nutritional value, it is inexpensive too.

Poppet is a bit out-of-sorts this evening, She's probably pretty confused as
to what's happened to her over the past 6 days, that's the problem you can
explain it to a child, but I'm pretty sure she knows that she is LOVED
soooooo much, she's pretty unsteady still sometimes, but that's likely to be
the fluid pressure on her brain which will take some time to reduce back to
normal.

Yes, I met him in July or August when he gave an informal talk at
a bird club meeting. A very nice person who does not put on airs.

No, not dumped, I was married in 1964 and lost my wife in 1998. I am not
an abuser of anything other than the odd bit of verbal abuse in response
to the nonsense one has to endure on usenet. Threats to my manhood
are like water off a duck's back now. I have 3 grown sons who have families
of their own and who are all successful businessmen. There is nothing
more for me to prove. One wife was enough for me, I still enjoy the
company of women and could remarry tomorrow if I so desired. There are
plenty of willing widows and divorcees around.
Your unhappy relationships don't bother me in the least. I just made the
casual observation that you might have more reason than most to display
your seemingly abnormal dislike of the opposite sex, which you have taken
great pains to make known, to all and sundry and at every possible
opportunity.
You do have an unusually vivid imagination !!

I spent 2 years touring the UK and Europe, 1960/1961. I had a flat in Earls
Court which I used as a base. Strange how experiences differ, I found the
English girls to be pushovers, by far the easiest and with the lowest morals
in all of Europe.

Blue and yellow lupins contain alkaloids which were thought to be toxic.
It was found that the so called ' lupin toxicosis' was in fact caused by
mycotoxins excreted by a mould fungus which grows on these varieties
when not properly stored.
The lupins we were all discussing are SWEET WHITE LUPINS.
Now take both feet out of your mouth, look at the web page I quoted,

We'll have to agree to disagree on this one, my friend. Doug's intolerance
is mainly directed towards "wimmin folk." I've been the recipient of his
unjustified tirades on many occasions so I must be one of those stupid
people.

Well, considering how sick the little thing has been it's not surprising
that it's taking awhile for her to get back to normal. And aside from the
illness, the stress from vet visits and treatments must take a heavy toll
as well.
It's a miracle she pulled through at all... she must be a fighter! (and
VERY lucky to have a family who obviously loves her very much! and yes, I
believe she KNOWS she's loved.)
