Well, several of you said to keep you informed, so here it is. I got the
notice today that our court date has been set... Oct. 8th I will be FREE
FREE FREE from all the abuse I've had to live with!!!!! The rest of my life
is MINE ALL MINE!
I'm so happy I just wanted to share with all my good friends! YAY!!!

Just stay that way for a while. I recommend a 6 months to 1 year of
celibacy, no dating, no nothing for at least that period of time to all my
guys that I work with in these type situations.

Personally, I've never seen a hierarchy here in this group. I see us all on

I'm sorry that you're not well. Did you ever consider something environmental?
The fact that both you and the birds are experiencing health problems, may be
more than coincidental. Perhaps some cumulative effect from the fire, or
something in the new house? Since the doctors can't seem to find out what is
wrong, you have to do some detective work.

I don't know, TCL. This all started the end of July when I spent 5 days in
bed with what I thought was a "bug." I ended up in the ER on a Sun.
afternoon for severe dehydration and was diagnosed with Giardia, which they
assume I got from either the birds or the dogs (thus the need to treat my
birds/dogs. They still have to go through one more course of Flagyl once
I'm well enough to treat them.) A 7 day course of Flagyl did the trick for
me and I felt great for almost 2 weeks. Then I crashed... even sicker than
the first time.
That's when my doctor wanted to put me in the hosp. and I said absolutely
NO WAY! By then 'almost ex' had moved out, and my mom was in VA helping my
sister (sister's husband died suddenly recently). There was NO ONE to take
care of the animals but me. And I was not about to ask 'almost ex' for help
even though I was totally alone and scared out of my wits.
Doctor relented, but I had to go to his clinic 2 days in a row for fluids
and antibiotics IV and he started me on a 10 day course of Leviquin. That
weekend things got even worse. He put me on a 7 day course of a stronger
dose of Flagyl along with the Leviquin. I just finished both a couple of
days ago and other than being extremely tired and weak, I'm feeling MUCH
better.
But my CAT scan showed a thickening/mass in my colon, probably infection,
they say. They still think it's Giardia but are scheduling me for another
test (I should know when tomorrow) to determine *exactly* what it is. And
we'll go from there....
Meanwhile, 'almost ex' has been voluntarily coming out here twice a day to
take care of all the animals. He does have his good side! ;-) And my mom
is now home, too. She's been driving me to my Dr. appts and really helping
out.
And that's it in a nutshell.
Amazingly, 'almost ex' has escaped this illness, even though he's handled
the birds and dogs as much as I have. Go figure.

On a reality note here. Fact of the matter is that after living in an
abusive situation for that many years your head is screwed up, fact not
accusation. Reality time, with counseling you can get past all "that", with
out some help bad things will keep happening. If you all have a YWCA in the
area they do have programs and support, free or at a really low
cost............

My family doctor has been counseling me since the first divorce. He's
wonderful! He's given me a ton of advice... and this is a man who's known
me for 20 years so he knows my moods, has seen the good side of me and the
bad... has always been there for me when I need advice - or a hug. I trust
him with my whole heart.

I'll take your advice. I know there's a mental health clinic of some sort
out east of town. I'll call them and see what they have to offer, or if
they can recommend someplace else.

Congratulations on making improvements to your life. I so hope you're
feeling well soon. My ex and I got along very well when he was my "almost"
ex... he helped out, sent money, dealt with creditors... Its almost like
it's okay to be friends again cause you know you don't HAVE to put up with
each other anymore. :) If I lived near you, I would have come over and
helped... just so ya know.

Not saying youre un-hinged, but I agree with this advice. I really think
counseling helps a lot. Marriage counseling didn't do a bit of good, but
the counseling while I was figuring out who I was without the jerk helped a
lot...
What do YOU think? Is that something you want to do?

That is good mama. I agree with Bob about having a complete break from men
for at least a year though, and therapy is good too. I firmly believe that
the reason I had 4 marriages with abusive men, was because my father
physically and verbally abused me while I lived at home. Of course I loved
my dad, and somehow kept falling in love with men like my dad. Not good at
all. We can follow a pattern. If you picked one bad one, the chances are,
you will pick another. Thats fact sadly.Therapy if you can get it, might
help you making a similar mistake in future.
I didn't have therapy, I got pigs instead :0)
