Thinking about getting a greenwing - CLICK HERE for the Pet Manual Forum Home Page
Lesley
Hi,

I'm thinking about getting a greenwing. I'm going to look at the
babies this weekend.

I have 2 small dogs (chihuahua/terrier mix and pomeranian) and a
lovebird. I've had other parrots before--cockatiels, conures, quaker
and a grey.

I have one question: I work full time and so the greenwing (GW) would
be home with the dogs and the lovebird all day. I'm wondering if the
GW would be OK being without human companionship all day. My dogs
have full run of the house and I leave the TV on for part of the day
(it's programmed to go off so that everyone gets an afternoon nap).
I've heard of people leaving their GWs out on perches or playgyms all
day, but I'm thinking mine would be in a cage until I got home, and
then he could come out for the evening. The cage I'm going to get
will be a big macaw cage so he'd have plenty of toys.

Anyone else out there have a GW that they leave home alone (only with
other pets) all day?

I appreciate your responses.

Best,

Lesley
Carol
I have a GW that is alone (without me) all day. He does have about 25 other
birds to talk to if it wants though! I have music on all day and sometimes
I turn the tv on also. He does just fine.

What happened to the other birds you used to have?
I know people *do* leave their pets all day long, but I don't think it is a
good thing, to leave a large intelligent bird like a GW alone all day.
