Owly
Over the last few years I may have mentioned once or twice that my dream
bird is the red-bellied parrot. I have had to reluctantly (VERY in some
cases) turn down various birds that needed homes as my bird room filled up,
because I've known that sooner or later, I would get my red-bellied parrot.
And I've known these last few months that there was a good possibility that
would be happening soon, but the decision wasn't 100% made, and I've been
afraid to get my hopes too high even while I was fairly certain of the
outcome...

However, today I spoke with a woman I've grown to know and respect from one
of the mailing lists I'm on, and it is official: Maxwell the red-bellied
parrot is coming to join the Peters flock. Maxwell is a male RBP, I've
known of him from the afore-mentioned list for a couple of years now, and
loved him from afar. He has been my ideal, and I'd always hoped when I got
one, it would be much like him. So when Mary first contacted me I was
flabbergasted, I'd never even thought I'd get to meet Maxwell, let alone
have the opportunity every day to play with him and cuddle him and kiss his
sweet little head... He's very well socialized, has a large vocabulary and
isn't afraid to use it <G>, is playful, confident, and adventurous...Mary
has given him all her best since she got him, and he reflects that.

Also coming with Maxwell is Miracle, a greencheek conure. She's 8 years old
and very social and friendly and sweet, loves everybody but especially men
(little flirt!), and it's so interesting that the whole time I've had
Chuckie (greencheek with issues), I've wondered what it would be like to
have a greencheek that has all of Chuckie's intelligence and spunk and sense
of mischief and quickness and wit, but that was also touchable. From what
Mary has told me, little Miracle is all of these things!

It's been hard not to say anything about it but I wanted to honor Mary's
request that I not do so yet. This has been very very difficult for her,
her reasons are her own but it took a lot of love on her part to do put
aside her own feelings for the sake of theirs. They will be flying here
hopefully next week, or as soon as possible anyway. I am so blessed...

And now my flock will be complete!

Congrats! I'm glad to hear that you're getting your rb parrot. I sure enjoy
my little monkey-bird! And to get a green cheek at the same time... how
wonderful!

To hold a living bird in one's hands is to be changed. Before that moment
these creatures were simply a decoration, an element in the background to
our existence. But now they are transformed to individuals, hearts

as our own. Jane Swan
