Gday
My wife is allergic to that bacteria in ratties claws, one scratch makes her
puff up in painfull redmarks.
Im wondering if anything can be done to treat this, we put some antiseptic
cream on it, but that doesnt have much effect, anything anybodys found that
makes the swelling and pain go away?
regards

Has she tried taking allergy pills? I'm also allergic to my rats but I
take Singulair to control the asthma and allergy pills for the hives
(red marks)

I'm the same. I take anti-histamine tabs for a few allergies I have but I
still react to rattie claws. I put 'Witch Doctor' on, which is witch hazel
in a gel form - that cools and soothes the itching.
Glad to see you are able to post in the rattie group again, Mad!

Interesting. I've never thought about the red, puffiness caused by rattie
claws as being an allergy. Was just a part of being a rat slave, to me.
Might give an antihistimine a try, pills or cream. <makes a note to buy
Benadryl cream at work tomorrow>

I know its caused by a bacteria that grows under their nails, as a result of
walking in their own fecease.
I know the missus is allergic to everything else on the planet, nuts,
fruits, grains, etc..
And yep, i managed to change to another news server with my isp which had
this rattie group on it.. the other one just didnt cut it.

Sorry for the late reply but I haven't been online much lately..:( My
eldest daughter comes out in red itch welts and lumps if she so much as
lets a rat walk on her skin. Taking an antihistamine is always an
option but Cassie just leaves it and it goes away after a while.
