I have just developed a case of ringworm on my neck. We have 3 new
ratties we got about a month and a half ago -- one of them developed
what the vet diagnosed as mites (and is being treated for them). The
other 2 have no visible skin problems that we can see.
There is no way to know for certain whether I caught this from one of
our ratties, but they certainly like to hang out on my neck. We talked
to the vet, but she said she had never seen a rattie with ringworm,
herself, and indicated that testing them for ringworm would be fairly
complicated.
Has anyone had ratties which were diagnosed with ringworm? Or thought
that they caught ringworm from their ratties when the ratties had no
visible skin symptoms themselves?

I have never experienced any of my rats ever having ringworm, and I
don't know of anyone personally who has. It does occur, but I don't
think it is really that common.
There is some great information to be found here:

Including pictures and treatment options.
I did have a friend who adopted a very sorry little syrian from a
rescue that had untreated ringworm, an extremely bad case of it.
Unfortunately, the little girl had more problems than just the
ringworm, so it was not a happy outcome, but I believe that the
treatments work very well in most cases.
