Update on a VERY hard day - CLICK HERE for the Pet Manual Forum Home Page
Meghan
First, thank you to everyone who has replied to me here and privately. Your
words of support have helped me more than you know. It is the WORST
second-guessing the hardest decision you'll ever make as a pet owner, and I
have decided that the "window" for knowing when to PTS is very small, or
nonexistant. I agree, it seems to be either too soon or too late.

It turns out that my decision for Jacques was correct after all, as the vet
examined him, and he had fluid in his lungs as well as a super-fast heart
beat and not getting oxygen to his extremities. This after having been on
all kinds of antibiotics for weeks. I think he really was as bad off as
Pierre (who was quite bad) but just hiding it better. The two went
peacefully in my arms, and nuzzled in my face. I didn't really care what
anyone thought who saw me - it must have been a sight! Everyone at the vets
was very kind. In the end, my boys went TOGETHER, which is what mattered
most to me - that they will always be together.

I will still be visiting this group occasionally to see the silly
rattie-antics pictures and baby pictures of course. I'm sure at some point
in the future when my life settles down and if we can ever get within decent
driving distance to a good rattie vet, that Gotta Get More Rats syndrome
will strike me again.

Thank you everyone so much. Give your ratties an extra hug tonight!

Meghan

The candle is lit for Jacques and Pierre's journey. Your heart is broken two
fold today and a prayer for you comfort has been offered. Now your babies
are healthy and whole, waiting at the Bridge.

Hugs from Julia...

All though it was a very hard descision you made the right choice for them,
to make that choice showed them love and compassion.
My sympathies to you.

Awww, hugs to you Meghan - I can only imagine how hard that was for you to
send both boys off to the Bridge. You did the right thing and they run loopy
tonight and have met up with Maggie too!

Hope everything goes well for you, and hope human baby is coming along great
too?!

Take Care xxx

Oh I'm so sorry Meghan, my thoughts are with you. You gave those little rats
so much love and care, they would have slipped away feeling so very
cherished and will now be happily reunited with sweet Maggie.
