Hi
I've noticed in the last two or three days, our 12 year-old beagle, Walter, is drinking the heck out of some water. On a normal day, he may drink two small bowls, but he's probably drinking a bowl every couple hours or so. I heard him in the middle of the night drinking from the toilet. When I refilled his water bowl, he drank it entirely on the spot. He is an inside dog, and his trips outside to pee are still normal. He has always been a very VOCAL dog being a beagle, but lately instead of barking when he's ready to come inside, he kind of whines and cries.
Walter has always been healthy, never overweight and very active, playing fetch for hours with a tennis ball. At 12, he can still play for a long time before getting tired. He has had an "on again- off again" bout with degenerative disk disease for the past couple of years, but our vet believed this just came with age. What could be causing these symptoms? |
