Your puppy is probably teething, and will chew anything and everything, when I first got my puppy I had exactly the same problem, didn't matter about the amount of chew toys I gave her fingers and toes were always more interesting. She is 6 months old now and she is more interested in her toys than our fingers and toes now.
Make sure you have lots of toys of interest, ball on a rope, frisbee, chew toys, we bought many of the nylobone products as they are non toxic, tennis balls aren't very good as a chew toy as when they break apart they can cause blockages if swallowed, and as you well know dogs eat anything and everything if they can get away with it.
When she is chewing her toys or dental chews etc, praise her/him (Good girl/boy), if the puppy is biting/nipping and you are sitting down on the puppy's level get up and fold your arms and ignore the puppy, dogs don't like being ignored, don't ignore them for too long though, if standing turn your back on your dog and fold your arms. Makre sure you and your children are above her in the dominance ladder.
My trouble with Ruby was my trousers, but this isn't a problem any more. They do grow out of it, and I know it feels never ending but you will see the light at the end of the tunnel and your hard work pay off, and like us you'll end up with a puppy we can take everywhere without a worry.
Another thought is get in touch with a dog trainer, we paid £35 for 9 obedience classes but before we went I was able to call her with my "problems and concerns" and I was explained how to go about it, she was patient and kind and made me feel like it wasn't me doing anything wrong and every dog owner has gone through the same thing. I hope that I was of some help, just giving advice from my own experience. Good luck and don't despair. :) |

| Thank god everyone seems to be having a similar time to us, we have a 9 week old puppy and he does all the things you say, eating my trousers is the worst in the morning, I have read all the training tips and am trying to put in place but it feels hopless sometimes. I am sure we will get there, his names Paddy and each night at about 9.00pm he has a paddy !!! |
